JOB SUMMARY

The Programme for Research in Epidemic Preparedness and REsponse (PREPARE) is a national programme that was set up by the Ministry of Health (MOH) to support and strengthen Singapore’s key essential research capabilities, translational platforms, and expertise to develop tools, methods and products that can be tapped on to detect, respond to, and contain future infectious disease threats.

You will lead and oversee the development and execution of immunogenicity and challenge animal models for viral pathogens within the ABSL3 or ABSL2 setting as part of the PREPARE Vaccine & Therapeutics co-op. This co-op aims to develop pathogen-agnostic technologies and platforms to enable rapid therapeutic or vaccine development to enhance Singapore’s capabilities and access to vaccines during future epidemics. You will be responsible for experimental design, evaluation and documentation of the results and coordination with our host BSL3 laboratory which is located at NTU LKC School of Medicine.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

SPECIFIC

1. Development and execution of animal challenge experiments for viral pathogens with pandemic potential within the ABSL3 at LKC Experimental Medicine Building (NTU) and immunogenicity experiments for vaccine platforms within the ABSL2 at LKC Clinical Sciences Building (Novena)
2. Assist with preparation and submission of IACUC protocols
3. Work with the PREPARE Laboratory head to manage PREPARE projects and train/supervise attached staff.
4. Lead the immunological/virological characterization of experimental samples within BSL3/BSL2 e.g. T cell reactivity, viral load, neutralization titre etc in support of PREPARE projects.

GENERAL

1. Ensure safe execution of experiments and adherence to SOPs and all safety & ethics regulations/policies and procedures stipulated by the lab and institution.

Role and Responsibilities

· Assist the Head of Compliance in the enhancement of Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Terrorism Financing ("AML") control measures to build a more robust AML framework for the Bank

· To review/conduct customer due diligence/end to end evaluation of new and existing customers (including post transaction review), ensuring that they comply with the Bank’s AML/CFT/Sanctions requirements

· Reviewing and assessing alerts from money laundering risk through transaction monitoring systems and liaising with business units as necessary to investigate the alerts

· To roll out enhancements to Compliance Department’s policies and procedures and also be proactive in pointing out areas of improvements to enhance the Bank’s systems, methodologies and process simplification

· To take charge of various bank-wide initiatives, AML assessments and reviews and ad-hoc projects led by Compliance Department

· Ensuring management is made aware of all pressing issues in a timely fashion

Main Purpose

Ensure that cargoes and storage facilities are financed in a timely manner and that the risks (other than market exposure) to which the group is exposed are properly analysed, monitored, mitigated and laid off. Support trade finance manager in Singapore and provide guidance where appropriate/requested in difficult or unfamiliar situations to juniors.

Key Responsibilities

· PR-type role with respect to banks, customers etc.

· Direct commercial/financial role in key countries and strategically important relationships (working with directors/traders)

· Participation in decision-making process with respect to credit/performance etc. risks that the group takes: establishing framework for analysis, follow-up and review and communicating internally of decision taken

· Ensuring that Risk Management decisions are appropriate, bearing in mind financial/commercial imperatives

· Issuance of L/C’s or bank guarantees

· Checking and preparation of original shipping documents for presentation

· Risk covering sales where necessary with banks and/or Insurance

· Weekly monitoring and m2m of regional storage positions

· Co-operation with our Deals Desk personnel to ensure any charges agreed by Trade Finance are allocated correctly to the separately maintained deal Profit and Loss accounts

· Close liaison with our operators to monitor shipments and ensure correct security is in place before releasing of cargoes

· Vetting of contracts, storage agreements and bank documentation

· Optimise allocation of deals to our pool of bankers in accordance with management strategy

· Ensure timely processing of cargo payments, together with managing cash positions with the banks

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

· At least 5 years within a Trading Company / Financial institution having gained a strong understanding of the principals surrounding Trade Finance instruments and their pitfalls
