• Ensure the comfort and good personal hygiene of the residents under her/his care, eg, bed bath/shower bath, changing of clothes and bed sheets, keeping them clean and dry.
• Assist in the transfer and positioning of non-ambulant residents.
• Assist in the conduct of daily exercise for the residents.
• Assist in serving meals and drinks, and feeding residents.
• Maintain accurate documentation of care given.
• Assist the nurse in nursing care, eg, caring for patients with urinary catheter.
• Accompany residents to the hospital/polyclinic for follow up appointments and outing trips.
• Alert nurses to emergency situations. When necessary, take first responder actions to mitigate the emergency.
• Work with nurses to maintain a safe and clean environment in the nursing home.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• ISC (ITE Skills Certificate) Homecare Course/Certificate in Eldercare/ Healthcare Assistant
• Preferably 1-2 years experience in Nursing Home / Healthcare Sector

Job Description:

• To carry out Paediatric Urology investigations and Paediatric Surgery Outpatient Day Procedures.

o Paediatric Urology Investigations include Simple Urodynamics Study with or without Sedation, Complex Urodynamics Study (including Video UDS, EMG) with or without sedation, Uroflow studies, Residual Urine Measurement, Biofeedback Therapy, 4 Hour Voiding Observation, Stool Management Programme and Urotherapy.

o Paediatric Surgery Outpatient Day Procedures include, change of Gastrostomy tube/button, Rectal washout and Clean Intermittent Catherisation.(CIC)

• To perform charging for the above-mentioned investigations immediately, post procedures

• To schedule for sedation team and/or anaesthetic team support for above mentioned investigations and procedures that may require sedation or general anaesthesia as requested by team doctors.

• To schedule, actualise and perform charging of patient’s admission before and after Urodynamics Study and/or other procedures requiring admission.

• To check and calibrate equipment and instruments to ensure that they are in good working condition.

• To set up the machine for above mentioned investigations/procedures when required

• To perform Uroflowmetry studies and Residual Urine measurements as requested by doctors according to hospital standards of operation.

• To provide appropriate instructions to patient for follow-up review/procedures at Specialist Clinic.

• To provide patient / family members on information regarding above mentioned investigations and procedures.

• To compile the data generated from the studies into computer and report results for doctor to verify.

• To ensure reports are ready for dispatch to clinics/wards within stipulated time frame.

• To be responsible in proper filing of patients’ reports for easy retrieval.

• To ensure appropriate and timely electronic documentation of investigations and procedures.

• To educate and instruct patient and family on filling up Bedwetting Questionnaire, Bladder Diary, measurements of urine, spillage.

• To demonstrate proper and economical usage of consumables and supplies

• To ensure that stock level on supplies and consumables are adequately maintained and replenished.

• To maintain and demonstrate proper use and care of equipment.

• To maintain a clean and safe work environment.

• To attend to patients’ feedback /enquiry, perform service recovery and provide information when appropriate.

• To be responsible for Paediatric Surgery Urology Hotline for communication with patients/parents and colleagues.

• To attend to telephone enquiries / calls and trace results when requested.

• To participate in service quality / improvement activities / program.

• To assume additional responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor(s).
