Role Overview
Reporting to the Chairman & Managing Director with dotted line to Finance Director in Singapore, this pivotal role combines strategic advisory and financial leadership responsibilities within the Lubritrade Group. The incumbent will oversee the organization’s financial planning, strategic direction, governance, investment strategy, and performance management.
You will lead financial due diligence, performance analysis, and M&A initiatives while advising the senior executive team on long-term strategic goals. A key focus will be driving growth, financial sustainability, and legacy preservation while ensuring financial governance and operational efficiency across diverse business units.
Key Responsibilities
1. Business Advisory, Strategic Leadership & Execution
- Strategic Advisor to Leadership: Act as a trusted advisor to the Chairman and Managing Director, providing expert insights on corporate governance, financial strategy, and risk management to ensure the group’s long-term sustainability and success.
- Financial Strategy Development (vision level): Partner with the Managing Director to chart out and refine the financial roadmap taking into account of the Chairman vision, develop and execute comprehensive financial strategies that support long-term growth, capital efficiency, and profitability.
- Business Strategy & Execution (business unit): Lead the engagement with the business units to define and execute strategic financial goals, ensuring alignment with broader organizational objectives. Provide recommendations on operational improvements and cost efficiency to maximize shareholder value.
- Centralized Finance Operations: Oversee the centralization of financial operations across the group, driving efficiency and consistency in financial reporting and planning.
2. Performance Management, Governance & Control
- Performance management: Lead the development and implementation of a performance management systems, including a balanced scorecard, KRAs and KPIs to ensure operational alignment with business objectives and optimize financial outcomes and ultimately ensuring all business units and support functions are working towards the same goals
- Governance & Risk Management: Partner with the Finance Director to lead the development and implementation of robust internal controls, audit policies and financial governance frameworks that ensures transparency, accountability, and compliance with industry standards and mitigating financial risks across the organisation.
- Risk Assessment & Mitigation: Proactively assess and mitigate financial risks across the group, ensuring that financial controls, fraud prevention measures, and compliance protocols are in place
3. Investment Strategy & M&A Support
- Investment Gatekeeper: Serve as the primary gatekeeper for new investment opportunities, leveraging your deep expertise to evaluate risk, providing comprehensive financial analyses, valuation models, and scenario planning to empower informed decision-making at the senior leadership level.
- Investment & Capital Allocation: Proactively scan and advise the Chairman and Managing Director on strategic investment opportunities, capital allocation, and portfolio diversification strategies that align and strengthens the group’s future growth goals. Ensure that investments support long-term profitability and risk management.
- M&A Strategy & Execution: Lead and support M&A initiatives, including due diligence, financial analysis, valuation, and post-merger integration. Ensure that M&A activities are aligned with the group’s long-term strategic objectives and enhance financial performance.
4. Business Succession Planning & Legacy Management
- Succession Planning: Collaborate with the Managing Director, Finance Director and Chairman to design and implement an integrated business succession plans that address leadership transitions, wealth distribution, tax efficiency, and asset transfer—ensuring the smooth continuation of the business across generations.
- Legacy Preservation: Develop strategic frameworks to preserve the group's legacy, ensuring continuity, stability, and success under future leadership.
Experience and Skills Required:
- Educational Qualifications: A degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline. Professional certifications such as CPA, CFA, or equivalent are highly desirable.
- Experience: Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in senior financial leadership roles, with a focus on business strategy, financial planning, and governance. Experience in multinational organizations is highly preferred.
- Expertise: Strong experience in developing and executing financial strategies, overseeing corporate governance and financial planning.
- Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and manage diverse finance teams while influencing cross-functional leadership teams.
- Commercial Acumen: Deep understanding of financial analysis, investment strategies, and financial risk management. Ability to drive performance through data-driven decision-making and scenario planning.
- A proven track record in managing and optimizing complex financial portfolios and navigating the intricacies of business succession, investment planning, and wealth management.
- M&A & Due Diligence: Proven ability to manage complex M&A processes, from due diligence through post-deal integration, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to simplify complex financial concepts for non-financial stakeholders and effectively communicate strategy to senior leadership.
