The responsibilities of this role are:

• Design and teach labs & practice modules.
• Mentor students in Capstone Projects and the Integrated Work Study Programme (IWSP).
• Lead or co-lead innovation projects with industry.
• Manage labs and equipment to support academic programmes and applied research.
• Ensure safety in labs

The ideal candidate will need to have the following qualities and experience:

• A good degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Masters, PhD and/or relevant professional certifications like registered PE would be advantageous.
• Deep technical specialist with 10 or 15 years of working experience in mechanical design, systems design and integration or related area in mechatronics would be preferred.
• Experience in following areas are highly desirable:Complex Mechanical systems development and integration
  Material and components selection including working knowledge with integration and selection of components/systems such as actuators, pumps, hydraulics system, PLC/Controls systems
  CAD software such as SolidWorks
  Simulation such as Finite element and CFD simulation
  Hands-on prototyping and fabrication skills to guide students in labs
  
• It will be advantageous with working knowledge ofMaterial testing and material properties
  Programming of Control and PLC systems
  Software such as Ansys and Abaqus
  
• Extensive hands-on experience and knowledge of industry practices and engineering principles to bring industry perspective to the University
• Keen interest in innovation projects, with demonstrated ability in developing solutions to technical problems.
• Strong supervisory skills and enjoy working closely with students in an educational environment.
• Demonstrate proficiency to keep abreast of development in the field and pursue professional certification programs. Possess industrial certifications in relevant areas will be an added advantage.

In this role, you will be part of the Development Secretariat team to support the Hospital Planning Committee (HPC) in the planning, coordination, development and management of Eastern General Hospital and Eastern Community Hospital (EGH Campus). You will support the Deputy Director (Hospital and Services Planning) to ensure that the execution, budget and quality of the development are in accordance with the established program, which includes end-user briefs, operations requirements, systems design with technology partners, guidelines and project timelines. Additionally, you will facilitate workshops, coordination meetings with various project stakeholders and reporting to HPC.

Job requirements

• Bachelor degree in Architectural, Engineering or related fields
• Minimum 8 years of related work experience and demonstrated competency (with at least 2 years of managerial / supervisory experience)
• Knowledge and skill in design thinking, change management, project management, process and technology adoption methodologies, would be a strong advantage
• Familiar with hospital operations
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to engage various stakeholders
• Team player, highly motivated and action-oriented with excellent planning, analytical and critical thinking skills
• Able to work under pressure, adapt to change and manage challenges
• Familiar with AutoCAD, Photoshop and presentation software.

This includes making recommendations and implementing facilities development systems to meet the vision and mission of the Campus. Additionally, you will support the Head of Department in establishing the Facilities Development department, developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and house rules.
