As a Salvage Engineer, the world is your playground. You never know when or where a ship gets into trouble. That is why for a Salvage Engineer literally every day is different. It sounds like a cliché, but it is the reality. As a Salvage Engineer, you will have an adventurous job. When a ship is in distress, you will travel to the emergency scene with a multidisciplinary team. Once on-site, you work together with the team to get the ship systems up and running again. You are responsible for the vessel maintenance, trouble shooting, and on-site repairs of our salvage equipment. It is vital to salvage the vessel as quickly as possible. As well as working on actual ship salvage operations.

Your responsibilities as a Salvage Engineer

• As part of the mobile team, reports to the Salvage Master/Project Manager at site.
• When at base, assisting the technical manager and the operations manager to set up the right maintenance procedures and carry out the planned maintenance system of our equipment.
• Sharing knowledge with other engineers about complex ship's systems and maintenance solutions.
• Advising the salvage inspector and superintendent about how to break into existing ship's systems in order to use them during the salvage operation.
• Producing reports about the actions taken to get systems operational again. As you can expect from a leading international maritime service company, you will work with state-of-the-art equipment.

Your qualities

To make your mark as a Salvage Engineer with SMIT Salvage, you will need a flexible approach; you never know when or where your next project will be. • Contractor & Specialist Management: Oversee the selection, contracting, and performance of contractors, vendors, and fabricators. Ensure alignment with project objectives, quality standards, and timelines while managing all external communications and deliverables.
• Team Leadership: Build and lead a multidisciplinary team of Creative Directors, Engineers, Designers, and Project Managers. Provide mentorship and foster a collaborative environment to ensure effective project delivery.
• Creative & Design Management: Manage the creative and design processes, working with internal teams and external consultants to ensure all design phases meet creative goals, budget, and schedule.
• Budget & Schedule Oversight: Ensure projects remain within approved budgets and schedules. Provide regular updates and maintain comprehensive documentation for senior management.
• Compliance & Safety: Ensure adherence to all environmental, health, and safety regulations throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred
• Experience: At least 10 years of experience in managing large-scale projects in theme parks, entertainment, hospitality, with proven skills in managing complex teams, budgets, and timelines. This role requires a strategic leader with a strong track record in delivering large-scale projects from concept to completion.
