Job Description

=============

Supervise and train AV crew
Operation of all audio-visual equipment with the aim to provide high quality technical standards
Setup and teardown of AV equipment, led wall at events
Setup, program and teardown of analog and digital audio mixer at events
Setup and teardown of lighting at events
Serve as sound and lighting technician for events
Ensure that the audio-visual equipment is tested and in correct working order before use at an event
Investigate equipment faults and recommend actions to rectify
Maintain audio visual equipment including routine inspections and preventative maintenance
Maintain a strong working knowledge of video and audio equipment, LED video wall, wireless technology, computers, projectors, and video conferencing equipment
Coordinate integration with specialty audio visual equipment as needed
Responsible for cord management & safe set up and dismantle
Provide regular feedback to Company on communication issues and service improvements
Liaison with project manager regarding the exact audio-visual requirements for events. This will include assistance with PowerPoint presentations, audio and video conferences

General Requirements

Singaporeans or PR ONLY
Experienced Sound, Lighting and AV Technician. Live video mixing experience will be an advantage.
2+ years experience training and supervising AV crew.
Diploma holder will be an advantage.
Highly responsible, punctual and good time management
Attention to details and well organised
Good communications and interpersonal skills
Team player with good discipline and working attitude
Service-oriented mindset
Flexibility to work irregular hours and weekends as required by event schedules
Versatile, willing and flexible to take on broad spectrum of tasks and new tasks
Adaptable to changes, stress, and last minute nature of events industry
Passion about Audio Visual Technology and learning new technologies
Positive, can do attitude
Calm and level headed
Good problem solver
6 day work week
Class 3 driving licences will be an added advantage

About Tamil Murasu

Started in 1935, Tamil Murasu is Singapore's only Tamil language newspaper. Tamil Murasu is the main information source for the Tamil-speaking Indian community with its coverage of wide-ranging news, from current affairs to local and foreign news, as well as the latest in sports and entertainment, in addition to its strong coverage on news from the Singapore Indian community and South Asia. The newspaper has established itself as a voice for the Tamil-speaking community in Singapore. It also has a robust digital presence and an active website. In addition, Tamil Murasu launched the TM App in late 2024, capturing much of the content created and its social media presence is strong.

Roles & Responsibilities

Select relevant news and features daily for both online and print
Help translate news stories from trusted sources for both online and print
Write using content from various sources such as Press Releases, other publications, etc.
Write original content such as features, commentaries, op-eds, editorials
Provide insight on various thematic contents and relevance to TM audience
Be digitally savvy to use the Content Management System and other related tools
Review and edit Tamil Murasu’s editorial content for accuracy.
Craft appropriate headlines and captions in Tamil with relevant details.
Assist, when required, in the creation of visual content based on the stories
Ensure the timely filing of the story for publishing

Job Requirements

Minimum degree/diploma holder from a recognised university/Polytechnic
At least 5 years experience in communications, policy writing or publishing field
Good news sense with a good understanding of trending news relevant to Tamil Murasu readers of digital and print versions
Effectively bilingual in English and Tamil
Familiar with Tamil translations of official names, terms and technical words
Familiar with local and regional matters
Able to work in a fast-paced environment
Able to work on weekends/public holidays

About the Role

Tamil Murasu is seeking an experienced Visual Journalist to join our newsroom. You will work with journalists and sub-editors to create original data visualisation and graphics content based on researched data related to content identified for publishing, enhancing readers' engagement.

Many stories could be accompanied by data representation. You must identify potential ideas for the presented content and search for appropriate verified data to visualise into graphics that simplify complex ideas into visuals. There will also be opportunities to work on visual feature stories based on ongoing events, themes and those you choose to present in a graphic format.

You will also assist in the layout of stories for the print version

Roles & Responsibilities

Collaborate with journalists and sub-editors to understand the requirements and translate them into visual designs that accurately represent the underlying data, editorial angle, or product request.
Use reliable data visualisation tools to represent the harvested data and support the content.
Collaborate with the editorial team to ensure that interactive graphics are user-friendly, responsive, and accessible across various devices.
Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies to continually improve and innovate our interactive content.
Conduct research alongside writers to find/verify data sources.
Layout pages in an interesting way to enhance engagement

Job Requirements

Degree or Diploma in relevant course in Visual Communications or similar qualification
At least two years of relevant experience
Able to articulate ideas visually
Proficiency with data visualisation and interactive web design platforms
Proficiency in English and Tamil languages
Familiar with the use of Tamil fonts in various software applications
Creative individual and a self-starter who initiates and executes innovative content
Inclination towards visual storytelling and crunching large volumes of data into visual charts, graphics and imagery
Able to work in a fast-paced environment
Able to work on weekends and public holidays.
