Roles & Responsibilities

The Community Partnership & Communications Executive is responsible for the development of cohesive messages and the dissemination of information, both in presentations and in other communications to stakeholders, playing a key role in how stakeholders perceive the organisation.  You will also be responsible for the organisation’s collaterals, website and social media channels.

Primary responsibilities:

Requirements

Technical Competencies:

• Degree in Communication, Public Relations, Business or related field with minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
• Strong writing, proofreading, editing, layout and design skills.
• Experience with social media, websites, creating audio and visual content and other digital tools.
• Experience with events management (both online and in-person events).
• Deep knowledge and understanding of current trends in digital/social media.

Key Responsibilities

1) Leadership and Vision

• Strategic Leadership: Set and execute the strategic vision for the media department, aligning it with the company’s overall objectives and mission.
• Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and grow the media team, fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment that encourages innovation and excellence. This includes recruiting the right talent into the team, resource planning, training and skills development.
• Change Management: Drive change initiatives within the media department, ensuring smooth adoption of new processes, tools, and AI technologies as Mediatropy is on a path to completely transform into an AI-driven organization.

2) Team Management

• Talent Acquisition: Participate in the hiring process for new team members and subject matter experts, ensuring the team is equipped with diverse, top-tier talent.
• Development: Implement career progression plans and conduct regular reviews to retain top talent and ensure continuous professional development.
• Workload Management: Review and assess team workload through weekly WIP meetings, ensuring optimal resource allocation and productivity.
• Training: Coordinate and lead media training sessions in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to keep the team at the forefront of industry trends

3) Business Development

• Client Acquisition: Collaborate with the Account Management team to qualify leads and identify business opportunities in new media, technologies, and verticals. You will be the first point of contact for all media related briefs and leads
• Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, serving as the primary media contact for major accounts.
• Strategic Planning: Develop and present comprehensive media strategies that address client needs, target audiences, and business objectives in close collaboration with creative and technology departments.
• Thought leadership: You will participate in industry’s events as a thought leader from Mediatropy’s, pen blog articles for our website and proactively participate in award shows.

4) Media Strategic Planning and Partnership

• Campaign Strategy: Oversee the planning, execution, and optimization of digital media campaigns across various channels, ensuring alignment with client KPIs. You will lead the Associate Director and the Digital Media team in ensuring that the best strategy and optimisation processes are being implemented at all times.
• Innovation: Identify and implement cutting-edge media opportunities, including emerging platforms like TikTok, Podcasts, and Twitch. Develop new AI-driven media services.
• Partnerships: Negotiate and secure favorable terms with media platforms and third-party vendors, and explore out-of-the-box partnerships that drive value.
• Performance Monitoring: Regularly analyze campaign performance, providing insights and recommendations to clients and internal teams for continuous improvement.

5) Operational Excellence

• Process Optimization: Lead efforts to streamline media operations, enhancing efficiency and ensuring the highest standards of delivery.
• Risk Management: Develop risk management strategies to anticipate and mitigate potential challenges in media execution.
• Data Governance: Ensure the integrity and compliance of all media-related data, maintaining alignment with regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in digital media planning, buying, and optimization, with a strong track record of managing multi-channel campaigns.
• Leadership: At least 3-5 years of experience in a leadership role, with proven ability to manage and inspire high-performing teams.
• Technical Expertise: Proficiency in ad servers, Google Analytics, and major ad platforms (Google Ads, Facebook Ads, etc.), with experience in SEM, Programmatic, Social, Display, Affiliate, and KOL channels.
• Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making and campaign optimization.
• Communication: Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex media strategies to both clients and internal teams.
• Innovation: A passion for strategic thinking and ideation, with a strong business acumen and a keen interest in the latest digital trends.
• Global Perspective: Experience managing media strategies across multiple regions or global markets is preferred.

We are looking for a Social Media Strategist to join the social media team in Lianhe Zaobao's China News desk. You will be expected to:

● Develop an innovative content strategy for our XHS, TikTok, and Bilibili accounts using data, audience insights, trends, and competitor research

● Expand Zaobao’s reach on the abovementioned platforms by exploring new engagement methods with the Content Producers

● Optimise content strategy for audience growth through SEO, multi-channel promotion, A/B testing and content scheduling

● Increase engagement by producing, testing, and optimizing diverse content formats like reels, carousels, and stories

● Cultivate strong, positive and engaging relationships with followers by responding promptly to comments, messages, and discussions

● Set KPIs, track social media metrics and produce regular performance reports for each platform and campaign.

● Conduct social media monitoring, research, and analysis to provide insights and recommendations, and identify new engagement opportunities; partner the Content Producers for implementation in future content

● Produce weekly reports on the latest social media trends to facilitate the team’s understanding of audience preferences and effective content categories

● Stay updated on social media trends and platform-specific content types, and relay these insights to the team

Requirements

● Degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media preferred; at least 4 years of proven experience in social media management, content strategy, or digital marketing

● Effectively bilingual in English and Chinese (written and spoken) as this role is for a Chinese publication

● Demonstrated expertise in developing and executing content strategies specifically for platforms like XHS, TikTok, and Bilibili with a focus on the Chinese audience or international content platforms

● Proficient in SEO and Digital Marketing - good knowledge of SEO best practices, A/B testing, and content scheduling to optimize reach and engagement

● Proficient in Social Media Analytics Tools - familiar with tools like Google Analytics, platform-specific analytics (e.g., TikTok and XHS insights), and social media management platforms (e.g., Hootsuite, Sprout Social)

● Ability to use data, audience insights, and social listening to inform content creation and promotion strategies

● Has experience tracking KPIs, analyzing social media metrics, and preparing performance reports

● Knowledge of Chinese Social Media Landscape - good understanding of trends, cultural context, and audience behavior on XHS, TikTok, and Bilibili.

● Able to build rapport with online community through engaging in discussions with humour and social media-savvy language, and responding to comments and messages

● Able to adapt quickly to changing trends, experiment with new content ideas, and effectively incorporate findings from competitor and trend analysis.

● Has a willing-to-learn attitude, meticulous, self-motivated and is able to work independently as well as collaboratively with various stakeholders
