About the Role

We are seeking a talented, driven and digitally-savvy supervisor to join the ST Now desk, to guide a team of reporters in creating compelling content for both our digital and print platforms. The team handles breaking and trending news, both locally and globally.

The ideal candidate should have at least 8-10 years in journalism and experience in leading a group of reporters, including assigning and editing copy across a wide range of topics, story types and formats. A candidate with prior on-ground reporting experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identify critical news developments and trending stories that are relevant to ST’s audience. You will quite often be required to make quick, sound editorial decisions
• Manage a team of reporters and edit their stories to ensure the content is accurate, engaging, comprehensive, of high quality and published in a timely manner
• Guide reporters in copytasting and curating foreign news for ST

Job Description

• Operation of all audio-visual equipment with the aim to provide high quality technical standards
• Setup and teardown of AV equipment, led wall at events
• Setup, program and teardown of analog and digital audio mixer at events
• Setup and teardown of lighting at events
• Serve as sound and lighting technician for events
• Ensure that the audio-visual equipment is tested and in correct working order before use at an event
• Investigate equipment faults and recommend actions to rectify
• Maintain audio visual equipment including routine inspections and preventative maintenance
• Maintain a strong working knowledge of video and audio equipment, LED video wall, wireless technology, computers, projectors, and video conferencing equipment
• Coordinate integration with specialty audio visual equipment as needed
• Responsible for cord management & safe set up and dismantle
• Provide regular feedback to Company on communication issues and service improvements
• Liaison with project manager regarding the exact audio-visual requirements for events. This will include assistance with PowerPoint presentations, audio and video conferences

We are looking for a highly motivated Visual Journalist to join the team. As a Visual Journalist, your key responsibilities include, but not limited to:

• Creating visual content across Chinese print and digital platforms to communicate an idea/story
• Performing light copywriting and storytelling using various visuals
• Brainstorming ideas, conceptualising and proposing illustrations and infographics for Zaobao

Requirements:

• Degree or diploma in relevant fields; 1-2 years of relevant job experience would be advantageous (you may be required to submit a portfolio of your work)
