The role will consist of a technical component, with a focus on material testing as well as designing new packaging systems. You will perform various types of testing for medical packaging materials and sterile barrier systems (packaging for sterile medical devices). You will design and create prototypes to support new sales growth and customer retention and assist external as well as internal customers with technical projects/package testing and consulting. You will own and manage smooth operation of a technical development center under the supervision of a senior engineer.
Primary Responsibilities
• Perform various types of physical, mechanical, analytical and integrity testing for medical device packaging materials and packaging systems
• Ensure that testing and lab procedures are performed safely. Ensure personal safety and routinely evaluate equipment for potential safety risks
• Design and create package prototypes using 2d and 3d software based on requests / inputs received from sales team. Maintain and control proper inventory of packaging materials, test material and test equipment accessories
• Maintenance of Lab equipment - Write/update work instructions, procedures, calibration instructions and test methods as required
• Liaise and collaborate with the technical team members at other global sites on technical topics and lab related activities
• Liaise and collaborate with external test labs, sterilization partners and contract manufacturing facilities, as required
• Communicate effectively with other Oliver employees both locally and globally
• Identify gaps and constantly strive to update technical capabilities of the Technical Development Center
• Provide expertise in material selection and package design of sterile barrier systems in order to support new sales growth and customer retention
• Occasionally, travel within APAC region to support our customers in the field including trial runs, troubleshooting customer processes and technical sales activities
• Actively support customer’s technical teams on new product introductions and validations
• Support the QA department with technical assessment of CAPA investigations
• Support product change notifications for customers
• Work closely within the Technical team to develop viable packaging solutions
• Qualify/Test new materials as per ISO 11607 – Ensure capability levels through thoughtful analysis and rigorous testing
• Design new products that can deliver Six Sigma process capability levels. Support/Improve existing product portfolio

Basic Qualifications
• B.S in Packaging engineering, chemical or mechanical engineering preferred. Candidates with a
graduate diploma in a similar engineering discipline may also apply
• 3-5yrs experience in medical device packaging
• 2d and 3d CAD knowledge / experience desired (AutoCAD 2d and Solidworks 3d preferred)
• Ability to stand and perform physical testing required.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills. Works well with people across the organization
