As a Global Procurement Category Manager at Micron, you will develop and execute a holistic sourcing and management strategy for a specific category of spend and lead a team dedicated to this category. You will participate in the development of strategies for assigned categories by conducting an assessment of a category current and future needs, analysis of market trends and potential suppliers, analysis of Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and opportunities to leverage changes in processes, systems and product/services, and estimating timing and level of savings capture.

o Conduct professional training on Hoya’s ophthalmic lenses and measuring equipment and tools

o Communication skills training for Optometrists, Opticians and Front-of-House team

o Post-training communication to monitor effectiveness and sustainability

• Conducting and delivering of training on a periodic basis, to one-to-one, small group retailers or mass group of eye care professional pre/post normal retail hours
• Working closely with institutes and associations, taking lead in delivery of ALL education session and professional conference, and organizing of Continue Professional Education programs to keep Hoya Vision Care branding at top of ECP’s mind
• Monitors and reports on industry’s movement and activities, develop competitive analysis on how to overcome objectives
• Assist in troubleshooting request pre/post normal retails hours as and when required
• Coordinate and work together with Marketing Team to help promote Hoya Vision Care during Products Launch/ Special Events and development of training for mass market

Required candidate attributes

As a key partner in product cost reduction activities, in early phase innovation working closely with the design engineers and/or in the manufacturing phase, your role will include the following,

Responsibilities

• New product sourcing and management. Responsible of performing research and analysis to identify project requirements, conceptualizing plans, designing, and developing systems, establishing guidelines and goals, and creating strategy to optimize operational activities for new product introduction.
• Work with Engineering, Quality, Commodity and NPI to ensure success in new product development and launch.
• Manage and coordinate in earlier supplier involvement in new product introduction from part design phase through mass production, ensure critical timeline and target COSS are met.
• Ensure that Cost, Quality and Availability are achieved for product development phase and through their full life cycle.
• Manage supplier onboarding process and selection with integrity, alignment across value-chain and value engineering.
• Manage cost activities through negotiation, identifying cost drivers to influence design decision making, review and negotiating supplier terms and conditions, support price negotiations
• Build strong, value-added relationships with suppliers, internal customers, and cross functional departments.
• Collaborate with Supplier Quality in the new supplier/component release process, including compliance and sustainability aspects.

Requirements

• Bachelor Degree in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering with 5 years or more of relevant experience
• Procurement or Material Engineering experience is a plus
• Working knowledge of geometric tolerances
• Experience creating or modifying manufacturing processes and procedures.
• Experience in managing overseas suppliers
• Understand Bill of Material (BOM) structure, able to interpret technical drawings / specifications and familiar with Engineering Change Process
