Qualification

• Bachelor’s degree or greater in a technical field such as Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field preferred
• Strong programming skills, solid data structure, algorithm fundamentals and design patterns.
• Strong system design and architecting skills with distributed systems
• 2+ practical backend development for real-world products in Java/Python or other programming languages
• Experience in SQL databases, writing schemas and designing high performance queries
• Experience in No SQL including but not limited to Redis/Memcached etc.
• Experience with DevOps/TechOps such as Jenkins, CI/CD, JIRA etc.
• Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills
• Self-motivated and willing to learn new technologies continuously
• Versatile, enthusiastic, and good team player across the entire company

Preferred

• At least two years' experience with AWS or other Cloud services and related cloud technologies
• Knowledge in containerization and orchestration technologies like Docker and Kubernetes
• Deep technical understanding of scalability, resilience, high availability and the corresponding architecture, technology and design for Senior Developers

Job Description

The Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Department at the National University of Singapore (NUS) is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Research Engineer to join our team and contribute to our ongoing research projects related to IC design.

Responsibilities:

• Explore heterogeneous systems with silicon chips being integrated on unconventional substrates such as flexible and stretchable, for ultra-low power always-on and intelligent silicon platforms.

• Work on innovative circuit techniques with very wide power-performance scaling to minimize the system energy while providing targeted levels of performance on demand. Such techniques will be investigated for digital sub-systems in advanced technologies.

• Be responsible to conduct research at the circuit level, defining and validating design options and defining new integrated circuit techniques.

This is a full-time position with an initial contract duration of 12 months, with potential for renewal based on performance and funding availability.

• Expected to drive and manage multiple project teams simultaneously.
• Lead design studies (independently and in teams) to solve technical or consumer issues found in the development of a product.

Other Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design or related field of study. Relevant master's degree is added advantage.
• 8 years relevant experience in case parts and/or mechanism design. Preferred experience in consumer electronics type products.
• An Understanding of injection moulding, die casting and common manufacturing techniques and finishes.
• At least 2 years of project management experience as team lead, supervising 2-5 junior engineers for multiple project simultaneously.
• Ability to work independently or on a team, with minimal supervision, in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
• Ability to interface with all levels in hardware/firmware/software development and test organisations.
• A creative and considered approach to problem solving, following clear design processes with pragmatic approach to balance cost and value.
• Experience to verify performance through empirical testing as well as analytical models. Strong problem-solving skills.
• Expert in system integration for multiple product development cycles in an R&D environment.
• Excellent prototyping skills.
