Key Responsibilities:

Activation Management

UWCSEA is seeking Deputy Director of Residential Life to join us in April 2025. Candidates who are available from August 2025 will also be considered.

We are currently seeking a Deputy Director of Residential Life - Dover Campus. The Deputy Director of Residential Life (Campus) oversees operational and pastoral matters for the campus boarding community, reporting to the Director of Residential Life (College) and Head of Campus on each campus. They will maintain and enhance our strong and supportive residential culture of 190 students (Dover) from grades 8 to 12, leading a campus team of residential houseparents, non-residential assistant houseparents and boarding support staff. The Deputy Director of Residential Life will work with other pastoral, academic and support teams across the College to ensure high standards of care for our residential students. The Deputy Director of Residential Life will be a member of the extended Campus Leadership Team as well as act as one of the Designated Safeguarding Leads for the boarding students.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Strategy:

• Provide strategic leadership to oversee the daily operations of laundry services, bakery operations, business outsourcing services, and kitchen operations in a correctional facility.
• Develop and execute business strategies that align with the company’s overall goals and vision.
• Establish operational goals and metrics, and drive continuous improvement initiatives across all business areas.
• Work closely with the Executive Team to formulate and implement long-term strategic plans, contributing to the company’s growth and sustainability.

Operations & Financial Management:

• Oversee the operational efficiency of all business units, ensuring smooth and cost-effective service delivery.
• Develop and manage annual budgets, analyze financial performance, and implement corrective actions where necessary.
• Ensure that key performance indicators (KPIs) for each operational area are met, including profitability, service delivery standards, and customer satisfaction.
• Drive cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality and service excellence.

Team Leadership & Development:

• Lead, mentor, and develop a diverse team of managers across different operations to ensure high performance and professional growth.
• Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability within the teams.
• Provide leadership and guidance to ensure that all teams are aligned with the company’s vision, values, and objectives.

Client & Stakeholder Management:

• Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, especially hospitals and correctional facilities, to ensure service excellence and client satisfaction.
• Act as the primary point of contact for external stakeholders, including suppliers, partners, and regulatory bodies.
• Manage contract negotiations and ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and service level agreements.

Operational Excellence & Risk Management:

• Monitor industry trends, market conditions, and competitor activities to ensure the company remains competitive and compliant.
• Oversee quality control measures to maintain high service standards across all operations.
• Identify potential risks to business operations and implement proactive strategies to mitigate them.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in operations management, with a proven track record of success in leading multi-functional teams.
• Previous experience in overseeing complex operations in laundry services, bakery operations, business outsourcing services, or kitchen operations, especially in a regulated or high-demand environment (e.g., hospitals, correctional facilities).
• Strong experience in financial management, budgeting, and performance analysis, with a solid understanding of P&L management.
