As a Firmware Engineer, you will focus on adapting, optimizing, and validating firmware for Project WATT’s systems. This role requires working closely with suppliers and internal teams to ensure that hardware and software integration meets performance, reliability, and operational requirements. Your primary responsibility will be to fine-tune existing firmware, troubleshoot hardware-software interaction issues, and ensure seamless deployment in real-world scenarios. This position also involves providing technical support during system integration and addressing firmware-related challenges in collaboration with hardware suppliers.

Responsibilities

• Design, optimize, and maintain firmware solutions to support hardware functionality, system performance, and scalability.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. At least 5 years of experience in firmware development or adaptation, working with embedded systems will be prioritized.
• Strong understanding of hardware-software integration and experience working with supplier-provided firmware.
• Proficiency in debugging tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and protocol analyzers to identify and resolve firmware issues.
• Familiarity with communication protocols such as UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, or Ethernet.

Position Summary

You are responsible to assist Snr Engineers and/or Project Manager in production, assembly, design and development of hardware and equipment the Company’s products. The job also involves sourcing of components, participating in technical design, assisting the Snr. Engineers and/or Project Manager in budgeting, scheduling, management of contractors, and installation, deployment and maintenance of the products in an operational environment (on-site when required).

Main Responsibilities

Data privacy engineering is a new technological territory that hasn't been well defined in our industry; by joining the team, you will have chance to refine the data privacy framework, use advanced privacy technology, and make a big impact on TikTok and our community.

As a Backend Software Engineer on the TikTok Privacy and Security team, you will:

• Design, build, and maintain systems that enhance privacy across the TikTok;

• Work with engineering and product teams to ensure that TikTok is compliant with privacy laws and regulations from a technical perspective;

• Respond to privacy incidents, if they occur, including collecting information on scope and root cause as well as managing remediation.

Qualifications

• BS/MS Degree in Computer Science or equivalent majors with minimum 3 years of working experience;

• Experienced in building backend services for large-scale consumer-facing applications;

• Proficiency in at least one of the following languages: Go, C++, Python, Java;

• Deep understanding of computer architectures, data structures and algorithms;

• Good team communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Industry experience developing and implementing privacy features and solutions.
