OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
Supporting the Group Director, Marine Assurance in the continual drive and promotion of the highest standards of service delivery through the effective implementation of the HSSEQ Excellence Charter, V.MS, Assurance programs, audit standards, and associated policies, including accountability for;
• Acting as V.’s subject matter expert on Dry Bulk operations, compliance, and assurance, to ensure V.’s policies, processes, and operating standards remain up-to-date at all times, and are continually improved to meet customer, industry, and stakeholder demands
• In executing above, ensure that V.’s Assurance programs (onshore and onboard) are accurately and consistently reflecting the ‘real world’ demands and expectations of external audit and inspection programs, creating maximum internal learning and improvement opportunities, and overall service delivery performance
• Support in execution of annual Segment Engagement Plans that target customers, stakeholders, and industry bodies, ensuring consistent and proactive engagement that promotes and continually improves V.’s commercial successes within the Dry Bulk segment, globally
• Act as V.’s Group-level representative in Australia, ensuring proactive and effective engagement with AMSA and relevant local authorities, at regular intervals or when required on matters of PSC compliance or incident response.

Marine Assurance Standards
Provide subject matter expertise on the development and continual improvement of policies, processes, and marine assurance standards for the relevant industry segment, ensuring the V.MS and all associated operational practices meet industry standards and maximise service delivery and commercial success for our customers.
Marine Assurance Programs
Provide subject matter expertise on the development and continual improvement of V.Assurance programs and inspections for the relevant industry segment, ensuring such operational practices meet industry standards and maximise service delivery and commercial success for our customers.
Customer & Segment Engagement
Supporting the Group Director, Marine Assurance in the planning, execution, and reporting of annual Segment Engagement Plans that grow V.s profile and customer engagement in the relevant industry segment, and supports our Commercial activities in remaining proactive and aware of customer and segment needs, and expectations.
PSC & Industry Engagement
Acting as a Group-level leadership representative with AMSA, an other regional PSC regimes as directed, to maintain working relationships at an equivalent level, ensuring V. is continually and proactively engaged in support of safe operations and effective service delivery, and supporting V. Executive Team members in securing and delivering additional such meetings and engagements, as required.
Incident Response
Acting as a Group-level leadership representative in event of incident for the interim period that relevant ShipMan MD/OD can reach the region to engage on behalf of DoC-holding office, and ensure that V.-managed crew and assets are engaged and cared-for during this period, and that V.’s interests are protected.
Incident Investigation
Where directed, provide subject matter expertise in investigation of all incidents where there are Marine Assurance impacts and/or learning opportunities, to ensure we maximise all relevant Marine Assurance learning opportunities, resulting in effective outcomes that drive continual improvement of related systems, processes, and policies.
SKILLS, QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
ESSENTIAL:
• Deep understanding of and experience in safe operations of Dry Bulk vessels
• Deep understanding of and experience in associated Dry Bulk vetting & inspection programs
• Excellent ability to make, maintain, and grow customer relations with key internal and external stakeholders
• Excellent ability to represent V. and themselves to the highest professional levels in external forums and stakeholder engagement events
• Ability to travel freely to/within Australia
• In-depth knowledge of industry standards, assurance & certification programs
• Significant experience in international compliance & certification programs
Significant experience in engaging and collaborating with multinational / multicultural teams.
DESIRABLE:
· Class 1 CoC (Deck or Engine)
· Good analytical and problem-solving skills
· Recognised academic or professional qualification in relevant field
· Willingness to travel
