Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Software System Safety Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the functional/system safety of our products, software and systems, with a focus on compliance with relevant safety standards and regulations. As a Functional/System Safety Engineer, you will play a crucial role in identifying and mitigating potential safety risks, conducting safety analyses, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement safety measures throughout the product development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Safety Analysis:
- Conduct hazard analysis, risk assessments, and safety integrity level (SIL) assessments to identify potential safety risks associated with products and systems.
- Perform Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) to evaluate the impact of potential failures on system safety.
2. Compliance and Standards:
- Ensure compliance with relevant functional safety standards, such as ISO 26262, IEC 61508, or other industry-specific standards applicable to the domain.
- Keep abreast of evolving safety standards and regulations to ensure continuous compliance.
3. Safety Requirements:
- Develop and define functionalsystem safety requirements for products and systems, considering both hardware and software aspects.
- Collaborate with design and development teams to integrate safety requirements into the overall product development process
4. Documentation:
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation related to functional safety, including safety plans, reports, and safety cases.
- Ensure that safety documentation aligns with industry standards and best practices.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience in functional/system safety engineering, preferably in industries such as automotive, defense, or industrial automation.
- Familiarity with safety standards such as ISO 26262, IEC 61508, or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of safety analysis techniques, including FMEA and FTA.
- Experience with safety-critical systems and knowledge of hardware and software safety mechanisms.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience in product development is a plus
- Experience in intelligent transportation and/or autonomous vehicle system development is preferred
- Certification in functional safety (e.g., CFSP) is a plus
- Knowledge in MIL-STD-882 and TR68 is a plus
