The Role & Responsibilities
Cost Estimation and Project Management
- Cost Estimation: Conduct detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, and equipment required for interior fit-outs and A&A projects. This includes finishes, furnishings, fixtures, and any structural modifications for A&A works.
- Budget Management: Develop and manage project budgets for interior works and A&A projects, ensuring alignment with client expectations and company objectives.
- Claims and Accounts: Measure and quantify materials and labor required for interior fit-outs and A&A works. Assist in preparing bills of quantities (BOQs), cost reports, and managing progress claims and the final settlement of accounts.
Procurement and Contract Administration
- Procurement: Source and negotiate with suppliers and specialized subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing for materials and services.
- Contract Administration: Administer contracts related to interior works and A&A projects, including assessing variations, claims, and payment certifications. Experience in interior-specific contracts and A&A projects is essential.
Collaboration and Compliance
- Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate with project managers, interior designers, architects, and clients to ensure that interior and A&A project requirements are met.
- Value Engineering: Provide advice on cost-saving measures and value engineering solutions for interior finishes and materials, balancing design quality with budget constraints.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential risks that may impact the delivery or profitability of interior fit-out and A&A projects.
What you’ll need to succeed
Technology and Skills
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding past and current building and construction technologies, building regulations, process and materials.
- Software: Proficiency in Microsoft office suite (Excel, Word, etc.) and Google Suite (Drive, Docs, Sheets, etc.)
- Numeracy: Strong math's knowledge to accurately calculate project costs, budget tracking and management of finances.
- Communication and Negotiation: Excellent communication and negotiations skills with the ability to build effective working relationships with internal teams and external vendors.
- Problem-solving: Strong aptitude for problem-solving that arise during construction projects.
Qualifications
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field.
- At least 1-5 years of experience in quantity surveying with a Main Contractor. Experience with landed residential required.
- Proficiency in Google Suite of products (Sheets, Word, Calendar, etc.)
- Proficiency in understanding construction technical drawings.
- Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, adept at interacting with stakeholders at all levels when the need arises.
- Strong analytical and numeracy skills, with meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to excellence.
- Works well as part of a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with architects, project managers, and contractors to achieve project goals.
- Good at managing time pressure and managing several projects simultaneously.
