This project aims to model the corrosion induced damage process in reinforced concrete. A multi-physics model is envisioned, to capture the ingress of chloride ions, the stress loading on concrete material due to the formation of corrosion products, and the resultant damage in concrete. The postdoctoral fellow will work closely with Asst. Prof. Patrick Rebentrost in the intersection of quantum algorithms and optimization, machine learning and/or finance. Sample topics include quantum algorithms for problems in supervised and unsupervised machine learning, algorithmic learning theory, and online learning, and quantum algorithms for financial problems such as portfolio optimization, pricing of financial derivatives, and hedging. The job will also include the development of algorithms that are easier to execute on available hardware such as variational and post-variational methods and quantum approximate optimization. The National University of Singapore invites applications for a Senior Research Fellow position in Prof Brian Kennedy’s lab, part of the Department of Biochemistry and the Healthy Longevity Translational Research Programme, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. Purpose of the post

The Senior Research Fellow (SRF) will be responsible to and work closely with Professor Brian Kennedy to provide support in research projects to advance the understanding of aging biology and age-related diseases, with a specific focus on identifying novel anti-aging compounds (drugs, natural products, metabolites, etc.) that can delay cellular aging and extend healthspan. Job Description

This project will focus on the multi-agent search problem, where multiple autonomous robots (agents) are tasked with spreading over a given region to be explored, to locate given targets of interest trying to evade detection. The number of targets is unknown, and their initial position is not known as well. There might be obstacles in the domain, and their location might or might not be known. Throughout this work, we will assume that robots can communicate their observations (presence/absence of targets) during search, via local or global communications, so they can update their representation of the domain and likely location(s) of targets (more details about this representation in the next Section). Our goal is to allow robots to plan efficient search paths to cover the domain and localise the targets as quickly as possible, while relying on local sensing and on distributed intelligence rather than on centralised planning, which would represent a vulnerable bottleneck and would not scale well to large agent teams.

Qualifications

• Excellent coding skills in python with pytorch (distributed deep reinforcement learning, Transformers, etc.)
• Literature review/summarizing skills
• Simulations abilities (e.g., AirSIM, ROS Gazebo)
• Experience with implementation of deep learning model on hardware (e.g., ground/aerial robots)
• Experience publishing papers, and supervising undergraduate/master’s students

Responsibility:

• To work closely with SQS in supervising and managing QS’ performance
• To prepare project costing
• To prepare and issue sub-contract to sub-contractor/ supplier
• To manage Project Change Request (PCR) for addition/omission of project funding
• Regular reporting of project account status, including costing, outstanding payment & etc
• Identify, analyze and evaluate problems encountered by QS / SQS and propose the effective solution approach

Job Description

This position will involve the design and operation of tubular flow reactors for a variety of single- and multi-step organic synthetic transformations, including, but not limited to, multi-phase (gas-liquid) reactions, photoredox chemistry and electrochemistry.
