ISCE2 is looking for a highly motivated candidate with great interpersonal skills to join Lab and Facilities Division. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to ISCE2 by the following:

1. Upkeep and ensure good lab housekeeping for designated laboratories, sufficient supplies of common chemical and laboratory consumables (including procurement) etc.
2. Lab ambassadors to promote sustainable lab operations and greening of laboratories.
3. Ensure common equipment functionality and its operation within required limits by internal and external preventive maintenance.
4. Initiation and coordinate disposal of unwanted, obsolete chemicals and generated waste in designated laboratory.
5. Ensure all new laboratory personnel receive laboratory induction and specific lab operational procedures before they commence work in the lab.
6. Ensure lab occupants (i.e., staff and students) comply with general laboratory safety rules. Communicates information on identified hazards and precautions to all lab users.
7. Initiate and coordinate all necessary corrective actions to rectify safety discrepancy found in the lab.
8. Maintain up-to-date chemical inventory and ensure Safety Datasheet (SDS) for chemicals are readily available for respective laboratories.
9. Coordinate the compilation and maintain laboratory documentation (equipment manuals, equipment standard operating procedures, maintenance records and inventory record of regulated chemicals).

We are looking for a Research Fellow (RF) to join a newly funded project led by A/P Yang Zhao(RG2/24, Ministry of Education). This position aims to fulfill the project’s objectives of advancing three-dimensional (3D) six-wave-mixing (6WM) spectroscopy for real-time molecular materials characterization. The appointed RF will play a pivotal role in developing computational simulations, theoretical methods, and practical protocols to extract photophysical and photochemical information from 6WM spectroscopy signals. This work will significantly contribute to MSE’s and NTU’s advancement in the field of energy materials and advanced sensor development.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct thorough literature review and generate periodic updates;
• Lead the design and implementation of computational models for 6WM spectroscopy signals;
• Set up standardized high-throughput data collection and analysis workflows;
• Develop and optimize algorithms for complex quantum systems dynamics;
• Supervise undergraduate and graduate student projects;
• Coordinate collaborative work within external collaborators;
• Generate periodic progress reports as required by funding agency.

Job Requirements:

• PhD in Materials Science/Physics/Computational science or related fields;

Project Title: Examining the adaptability of Singapore Physical Education teachers: A case for the future of teaching

Project Introduction: Adaptability is the capacity to effectively react and respond in constructive ways to situations that can be characterized by change, novelty and uncertainty. In this programme of work, the tripartite model of adaptability will be used to examine Singapore Physical Education (PE) Teachers’ level of adaptability. The model involves cognitive, behavioural and emotional adaptability and refers to how an individual’s thinking, behaviour and emotions can be modified. In the context of PE teachers, the subject of PE is underpinned by a high level of variability and dynamism of the teaching environment as well as interaction among students and the PE teacher (e.g., physical classroom, CCA, outdoor education, values-based education). Unlike other subjects, the teaching and learning situation can transit quite quickly and there is greater uncertainty on the emergence of students’ learning behaviours as they interact with the learning task and environment.

In this programme of work, the research team would build on their previous research experiences and track records to i) examine how adaptable Singapore PE teachers are (Phase 1), ii) the factors that could impact the level of adaptability (e.g., perceived autonomy support, socio-demographic variables, resilience, and creativity) (Phase 1) and iii) if PE teachers with higher adaptability levels are more inclined to adopt innovative pedagogical practices (Phase 2).
