Job description
Nanomatics, a cutting-edge startup revolutionizing plastic waste management, is seeking a Research Engineer with background in manufacturing and engineering. The candidate will lead research and development activities at Company’s manufacturing research facility (demonstration plant) for plastic waste upcycling.
Responsibilities
1. Contribute to research and development work at a manufacturing research facility (demonstration plant) through experiments including:
- Plastic waste conversion into various products.
- Analysis of energy and material balances.
- Evaluation of process performance.
- Implementation of modifications and improvements to original design.
- Documenting activities and data obtained.
- Development of improved processes for material handling, treatment and storage.
2. Ensure adherence of operations to all regulatory and statutory requirements, especially, workplace health and safety practices. Liaise with safety officer and operation teams to prepare and maintain up to date relevant work permits, risk assessments, safe work procedures and method statements.
3. Organize, monitor and ensure that manufacturing research facility is operated with maximum efficiency at minimum cost.
4. Perform routine checks and process control to ensure smooth operation and keep relevant records of these activities.
5. Maintain and improve housekeeping. Ensure that waste, chemicals, product handling equipment and assigned areas are kept clean.
6. Assist with other tasks as directed by a supervisor and company management.
Requirements:
1. Degree or Diploma in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing or related field of study. Fresh graduates will be considered, although work experience in manufacturing will be beneficial.
2. Hands-on experience including: metal design and fabrication, using hand tools (non-powered and powered), minor repairs and maintenance of equipment, day-to-day troubleshooting of machinery/equipment.
3. Strong verbal and written communication skills in English to communicate with other team members and workers.
4. Software knowledge: MS Office, Google Docs, Autodesk (Fusion).
6. Fit to wear dust mask/gas respirator.
7. Prepared to work in Tuas area (near Tuas Crescent MRT).
8. Resilient to noise, dust and heat at the manufacturing site.
