GEMS Research Programme Manager (2 years' Contract role)

The SGX Research Team is looking for a Programme Manager who will champion efforts and provide overall support to run an industry-wide research programme grant scheme – Research Grant under the Grant for Equity Market Singapore Scheme (GEMS). This is aimed at scaling up research coverage of mid/small caps listed on SGX.

In addition to running the administration of the grant scheme, the individual is also expected to drive distribution of content output generated from the scheme and support in activities and projects of the broader SGX Research & FinLit Team. Key Responsibilities

• Admission and Monitoring of Programme

The successful candidate will work with Professor Barbaros Oezyilmaz under a project on Spin triplet superconductivity in van der Waals heterostructures.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in Physics, Material Science, Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, or related disciplines and strong background in low-temperature device physics. The successful candidate will be working in state-of-the-art research environment and receive internationally competitive salary packages.

Our group has extensive experience in the fabrication and characterization of van der Waals heterostructures based on magnetic and superconducting layered materials. To support our ongoing work, we are looking for a new team member with extensive experience in low-temperature magneto-transport measurements. The candidate is expected to do research on spin triplet generation and characterization by introducing an additional layer of a magnetic semiconductor into existing heterostructures to realize spin mixing.

The main responsibilities of the position include:

1. Design and development of magnetic tunnel junction or spin valve.
2. Nano fabrication (e.g., stacking of van der Waals heterostructures, e-beam lithography, nano deposition) in clean room.

The Singapore Centre for Environmental Life Sciences Engineering (SCELSE) is a unique interdisciplinary Research Centre of Excellence (RCE), funded by National Research Foundation, Ministry of Education, Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and National University of Singapore (NUS). As part of IME’s Photonics & Sensors Department, the candidate will take lead for the development of various testing capability for advanced photonics, including but not limited to chip-level and wafer-level testing of optical devices and electro-optical devices.
