Job Description

This project will study and propose feasible solution to retrofit existing coastal protection structures. Special feature of this proposed solution is that it must be able to reduce seawater seepage, using innovative way of impervious material. Global Centre for Maritime Decarbonisation was established as a non-profit organisation in August 2021 following the recommendation of the International Advisory Panel for Maritime Decarbonisation established by Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore in 2020. This project aims to model the corrosion induced damage process in reinforced concrete. A multi-physics model is envisioned, to capture the ingress of chloride ions, the stress loading on concrete material due to the formation of corrosion products, and the resultant damage in concrete. Meso scale modelling with matrix, ITZ and aggregates will be utilized to understand the interactions between underlying processes.
