The Senior Associate Director/ Deputy Director will be responsible for the review, prioritisation, commercialisation, and business development activities of NUS intellectual property (IP) in the Technology Transfer and Innovation (TTI) Department. Specifically, the incumbent will strategise and drive business development and commercialisation efforts for NUS invention disclosures and IPs in the Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, and Information & Communication Technology domains. Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead negotiations and complete licenses and related agreements, including development of business terms and overseeing internal due diligence procedures prior to signing of agreement.
• Manage NUS TTI business development team, and drive initiatives to generate business leads and commercialisation opportunities for NUS technologies and IPs.
• Engage NUS faculties and staff in establishing collaborative relationships with industry partners such as identifying interest to further develop NUS technologies and/or licensing of technologies.
• Develop and maintain strong working relationship with NUS faculties, schools, and research institutes/centres to disseminate information regarding technology transfer and commercialisation; make presentations and organising learning sessions.

The postdoctoral fellow will work closely with Asst. Prof. Patrick Rebentrost in the intersection of quantum algorithms and optimization, machine learning and/or finance. Sample topics include quantum algorithms for problems in supervised and unsupervised machine learning, algorithmic learning theory, and online learning, and quantum algorithms for financial problems such as portfolio optimization, pricing of financial derivatives, and hedging. The job will include the development of quantum algorithms in these areas, with provable quantum advantages and provable guarantees, when possible, in fault-tolerant models of quantum computation. The job will also include the development of algorithms that are easier to execute on available hardware such as variational and post-variational methods and quantum approximate optimization. Furthermore, the aim is to provide hardware implementations on available devices, comparisons between available hardware providers, and classical simulations of the quantum algorithms. For this purpose, the successful applicant will be granted significant independence concerning their research and receive generous travel funding. They will be expected to contribute to the group, for example by co-supervising student projects and assisting with outreach activities.

Taking cue from the kinase drug discovery field, the hypothesis of these projects is that a universal strategy for targeted covalent inhibitors (TCIs) capable of potent target inhibition and minimal acquired drug resistance is possible, if highly effective small molecules could be developed to covalently target non-cysteine (C) nucleophilic residues within/near the active-site of kinase/epigenetic proteins. Our recent discovery of covalent kinase inhibitors against BCR-ABL (a key kinase for CML) in which CBA/SA and EBA warheads formed stable, (reversible and irreversible) covalent linkage with catalytic lysine (K) in Abl kinase under cellular environments indicates other covalent chemistries are feasible. Therefore, the goal of the current proposals is to confirm covalent chemistries targeting other nucleophilic residues (E/D/R/M/etc) are possible, and amenable to the development of cell-active, selective TCIs for various therapeutic proteins.

The scope of this proposal will be limited to the fundamental basic science, and NOT the actual clinical implementation, of the developed chemical/chemical biology tools. We are looking for a highly motivated research officer who is interested in developing next-generation DNA and RNA therapeutics for treating genetic diseases. The successful candidate will work with Dr Gloryn Chia on developing cancer vaccines.

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Fellow with expertise in immunology. Our team aims to leverage on stem cell biology (Sagi, Chia et al., Nature 2016; Chia et al., Nature Cell Biology 2019; Chia et al., Nature Cell Biology 2017) and cell engineering to develop alternative immunotherapeutic strategies to target refractory cancer types. The candidate will work closely with clinicians to establish empirical platforms for identifying and validating cancer vaccine candidates, and to translate research findings into clinical practice. Also, the candidate will be involved in the assessment and development of vaccines against novel antigens for the treatment of cancer and other human diseases. The successful candidate will need to independently design and execute experiments, troubleshoot issues, interpret results and give project updates. Job Description

The Mechanobiology Institute, Singapore, is a multidisciplinary institute committed to developing new paradigms for biomedical research by focusing on the quantitative analysis of dynamic functional processes. Through quantitative biophysical approaches, we address major problems in biomedical sciences, including pathogenesis (from bacterial to cancer), tissue regeneration, and function.

Asst. Prof. Chan seeks a highly motivated individual to join his laboratory on Mammalian Development and Tissue Hydraulics as a postdoctoral fellow at the Mechanobiology Institute in the National University of Singapore. This position is offered under a highly interdisciplinary project that aims to understand macrophage-environment mechanochemical crosstalk during ovarian ageing.

Project Scope

The candidate will investigate the mechanobiological principles by which cell mechanics, ECM remodelling and inflammation drive fibrosis during ovarian ageing. The selected candidate will combine an ex vivo approach with advanced imaging, omics and biophysics to explore how tissue-resident macrophages respond to age-associated changes in matrix stiffness and composition, and how this in turn drives macrophage-mediated fibrosis. Qualifications

Job Purpose:
