The National University of Singapore invites applications for a Research Fellow position in the characterization of adaptive immunity against emerging highly pathogenic viruses, within the Infectious Diseases Translational Research Programme (ID TRP) at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. The ID TRP is a 17-member programme comprising both basic scientists and clinician-scientists, enabling seamless translation of research. The programme has strong expertise in bacterial antibiotic resistance, multidrug resistance, and emerging viruses, covering areas such as epidemiology, molecular mechanisms, animal models, and therapeutic and prophylactic interventions. Other active areas of research include phage biology, pneumococcal infections, and microbiome studies. Appointments will initially be made on a yearly contract basis, with the possibility of extension.

Purpose of the post

We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a strong passion for emerging viral diseases, who is eager to contribute to advancing our understanding of infectious disease threats in this region and to help strengthen preparations for future pandemics. The Research Assistant/Associate who will play a key role in assisting in the development, execution and analysis of research aimed at addressing the challenges of training and operating in rising ambient temperatures. The successful candidate will be part of a multi-disciplinary group comprising exercise and thermal physiologists, data scientists, biomedical engineers and researchers. This role will provide you with a unique opportunity to not only develop your expertise in research planning and execution, but also to be a part of the team looking to generate fundamental and forward-looking solutions to working in the heat. Dr Chen Jinmiao is looking for a motivated Research Associate to join the Centre for Computational Biology (CCB) who will participate in AI-powered analysis of single-cell and spatial omics for precision medicine. Dr Chen’s research team develop AI algorithms for spatial and single-cell omics, integrates publicly available data into a centralised hub, and utilises this platform to build AI models for discovering biomarker and drug targets.

The selected candidate will perform a variety of research activities under the supervision of the Principal Investigator, including but not limited to the following:

• Develop new computational tools through the application of AI / deep learning / machine learning / statistics on spatial and single-cell omics (transcriptomics, proteomics, epigenomics, metabolomics, meta-transcriptomics, etc.) data.
