Job Description

The Centre for Quantum Technologies (CQT), National University of Singapore is looking for researchers and engineers to develop next generation quantum computers based on trapped ions. Nanyang Environment and Water Research Institute, NTU is looking for a Research Fellow with expertise in chemical reactors to develop an improved prototype for a thermocatalytic process.

The project is funded by National Environment Agency, Singapore to address one of the largest problems in waste management – the problem of plastic waste pollution. A significant fraction of plastic waste has substandard quality for mechanical and chemical recycling even after sorting and cleaning. The Research Fellow will work on the design, fabrication and testing of a chemical reactor system that will use pyrolysis-chemical vapor deposition (CVD) technology for converting these plastic waste streams (specifically, contaminated and rejected plastics) into multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) and hydrogen. The role of Research Fellow is to design a system prototype that can effectively mitigate the impact of impurities from diverse plastic waste streams on production outputs and can be operated in a continuous mode.

Job Description

Research Fellow position is open in the research group of Assistant Professor Zhao Lin, at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, National University of Singapore (NUS).

The Research Fellow will work closely with the Principal Investigator (PI) on theories and applications of learning-based control. The project will investigate and develop both deep reinforcement learning algorithms and conventional robust adaptive control methods, to develop safety-critical learning-based control algorithms that leverage the advantages of both model-based and model-free methods. We are seeking a talented researcher to lead the research on a 3 year funded research project as well as develop novel ideas in the broad scope of host-pathogen interactions and infectious diseases. Preliminary data gathered will help develop the researcher’s career and path to independence through the various early-career support available internally in A*STAR as well as in the Singapore ecosystem.

The funded project will aim to characterize and compare host-alphavirus interactions at the immune response level in vivo in animal models through a novel viral-centric approach. Preliminary data of the lab has shown a differential adaptive immune response polarization between two alphaviruses and identified, via in vivo comparative multiOmic approaches, a set of candidate host factors potentially responsible for the phenotype. The project will entail a close characterization of these host factors and their role in the viral life cycle as well as the modulation of the immune response of small animal model to these viruses. We are seeking a talented researcher to lead the research on a 3 year funded research project as well as develop novel ideas in the broad scope of host-pathogen interactions and infectious diseases. Preliminary data gathered will help develop the researcher’s career and path to independence through the various early-career support available internally in A*STAR as well as in the Singapore ecosystem.

The funded project will aim to characterize and compare host-alphavirus interactions at the immune response level in vivo in animal models through a novel viral-centric approach. Preliminary data of the lab has shown a differential adaptive immune response polarization between two alphaviruses and identified, via in vivo comparative multiOmic approaches, a set of candidate host factors potentially responsible for the phenotype. The project will entail a close characterization of these host factors and their role in the viral life cycle as well as the modulation of the immune response of small animal model to these viruses.
