This position plays a role in transforming extensive preclinical and clinical imaging data, along with biobank data, into valuable insights that advances our drug discovery efforts. WHAT YOU WILL DO

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Execute routine in vivo ophthalmology and neuroscience image analysis to support drug development pipeline operations.
• Optimize, and troubleshoot the analysis of the in vivo medical images and data to support drug discovery, ensuring timely project execution.
• Proactively contribute to the development of novel imaging biomarkers, including the development of AI/ML-enabled software algorithms for image & data analysis.
• Analyze large datasets from biobanks/cohort studies to advance our understanding of human biology and disease processes.
• Contribute to scientific literature and database searches to help the team develop imaging biomarkers, inform drug development strategies, and generate business insights.
• Maintain data integrity and compliance by managing data lifecycle, accurate record keeping, authoring documentation including image analysis workflows, research reports, project meeting minutes and study logs.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners across multiple sites to enhance AI-based imaging workflows, actively contributing insights and developing automated solutions for imaging biomarker analysis.

WHAT YOU MUST HAVE

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Genetics, Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or a related field.
• Previous experience in a research setting, particularly in developing and implementing AI-based imaging analysis pipelines is preferred.
• Hands-on experience in image processing, computer vision, or AI/Machine Learning, using languages like MATLAB, Python, or R; including scikit-learn, pytorch, tensorflow tools.
• Exposure to or at least strong understanding of big data (e.g., UK Biobank), epidemiology, statistical genetics/phenomics or public health is a plus.
• Hands-on experience with data analytics and visualization using MATLAB, Python (seaborn, matplotlib) or R (ggplot2, corrplot).
• Knowledge of imaging modalities used in ophthalmology and neuroscience is an advantage.

Hosted by CNRS@CREATE, the program ‘Carbon Negative production of advanced Sustainable Aviation Fuels using twin synthetic bacterial consortia Project’ (CNegSAF) is an international collaboration between world leading institutions in France and Singapore including CNRS, Toulouse Biotechnology Institute (TBI), National University of Singapore, A*Star (SIFBI), and Nanyang Technological University. CNegSAF aims to demonstrate the feasibility of using a synthetic bacterial consortium to convert green hydrogen and concentrated waste CO2 (released by chemicals companies) into sustainable aviation biofuels. This innovative research program has the potential to significantly contribute to Singapore’s and the world net-zero emissions target while supplying sustainable aviation fuels to the aviation industry.

DESCRIPTION

To join this team, we are looking for a candidate who will be in charge of enzyme engineering activities using state-of-the-art evolutionary engineering and computational enzyme design techniques. The candidate will be involved in the development of screening protocols, construction and screening of enzyme libraries, designed by in silico molecular modelling. These enzymes will be further used for the creation of novel metabolic pathways for terpenoid production in engineered bacterial strains.
The perspective researcher will work in a multidisciplinary environment with access to high-throughput screening equipments (both in Singapore and Toulouse, France) and have frequent and strong interactions with other scientists involved in metabolic engineering, pathway engineering and computational enzyme design.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

• PhD in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biochemical engineering or related field
• Experience with enzyme engineering and enzyme library construction
• Expertise with HT screening, assay design and development and trouble shooting
• Experience in structural biology and molecular modelling/computational enzyme design would be a plus
• Preferred experience with protein production, purification, characterization and crystallization knowledge
• Preferred experience with metabolic engineering/synthetic biology background
