The broad aim of the project is to develop novel approaches and technologies for fully de-fossilised routes to complex functional molecules and molecular materials. Who are we looking for?

We are looking to fill a vacancy of a Research Fellow or a Senior Research Fellow with experience in techno-economics and object-oriented programming. The candidate would have experience in assessing engineering reports and scientific papers on novel synthesis technologies, extracting key process performance parameters. The successful candidate would also have experience in designing and performing simple experimental work in the broad area of process and reaction engineering.

We will use existing data to analyse the built and natural environments in Singapore and construct profiles of urban environmental exposures at both population and individual levels. We will compile and map a set of environmental indicators and discover urban environmental exposure archetypes. These will be linked to the record of each study participant’s individual behaviour and health outcome.

Who are we looking for?

A postdoctoral research fellow to conduct the following work activities:

· Coordinate the work package activities and report on these activities and their results.

· Daily supervise other researchers and their activities in the work package.

· Take the lead in writing articles for publication in reputable journals.

· Collect open-source data and fuse this data towards a comprehensive and integrated city model of Singapore.

· Transform this data for use in a knowledge graph.

· Apply data-driven clustering techniques to define urban exposure archetypes.

What skills will you need?

· Compute urban heat island (UHI) intensity to include the interaction of urban morphogenetics such as urban form, sky-view factor, and local temperature anomalies.

· Compute human biometeorology indices such as physiological equivalent temperature (PET) and universal thermal climate index (UTCI).

· Compute humid-heat stress by integrating spatially averaged ambient meteorological data.

· Assess the spatial distribution of heat health risks, identify the climate adaptation capacity of vulnerable groups and neighbourhoods.

· Evaluate the social impacts of climate change (e.g., temperature, heat stress) on human health and mobility behaviour.

· Compute a novel humid-heat index by using multi-modal data, combining geostatistical, AI, and urban physical modelling, apportioned to the chosen unit of analysis.

· Contribute to writing articles for publication in reputable journals.

What skills will you need?

· A Master’s degree in urban planning or geography or a strongly related field from a reputable university.

· Experience in conducting research.

· Expertise in urban heat assessment, health risk and equality analysis, and strong geospatial analysis skills.

· Good command of GIS and geospatial modelling software (e.g., Python, R).

· Experience in multi-source data and multi-scale (regional, urban, neighbourhood) analysis, modeling, and planning.

1) In the first, Computational Fluid Dynamics simulations of ammonia and methanol engines will be performed, leading to a better understanding of the pollutant-generation processes. 2) In the second, systems modelling of alternative fuels and application to real-world data from ship operations will be performed, to compare possible decarbonisation scenarios in view of realistic ship operations. The Gaunt group are looking for passionate and creative scientist to join our team as postdoctoral researchers in synthetic chemistry based in Cambridge Centre for Advanced Research and Education in Singapore, and closely integrated with the Gaunt group @ the University of Cambridge. The project:

In the context of the multi-partner project HYCOMBS (https://www.cares.cam.ac.uk/research/hycombs/), which is part of Singapore’s CREATE investment in Decarbonisation (https://www.nrf.gov.sg/files/Media_Release_CREATE_Decarbonisation_Challenge_with_ANNEX_A__B_final.pdf), a large number of positions have become available to research hydrogen and ammonia combustion.

The project is a collaborative effort between CARES, CNRS, NTU, NUS, NTNU (National Technical University of Norway) and Tohoku University (Japan). All the positions are held in Singapore and will normally last 2 years in the first instance, with the possibility to extend if funding is available. Who are we looking for?

We are seeking highly motivated combustion researchers to work in the following areas:

1) Kinetics: (i) Experiments with flow reactors and laminar flames. The successful applicant will be skilled in analytical combustion chemistry systems such as gas chromatography and laser detection; (ii) Development of detailed and reduced chemical mechanisms. Experience in combustion chemistry modelling is needed.

2) Laminar and turbulent flame fundamentals: (i) Experiments with laminar pulsed and turbulent swirl flames. Skills in flame rig design, laser diagnostics and optical methods for flames are needed. (ii) Modelling with combustion Computational Fluid Dynamics (DNS, LES), with experience in the fundamentals of turbulent combustion, CFD and massively-parallel computations.

3) High-pressure combustion: Experiments and simulations for reciprocating engines and gas turbines. For the experimental positions, the successful candidate must be skilled in optical diagnostics, engine combustion, swirl combustion, fluids handling and data analysis. 4) Detonations and ignition risk analysis with CFD. The position involves high-order CFD methods for capturing detonations and turbulent flow analysis for ignition. The successful candidate must be experienced with CFD.

DESCARTES PROGRAM

The DesCartes programme is developing a hybrid AI, combining Learning, Knowledge and Reasoning, which has good properties (need for less resources and data, security, robustness, fairness, respect for privacy, ethics), and demonstrated on industrial applications of the smart city (digital energy, monitoring of structures, air traffic control).

The program brings together 80 permanent researchers (half from France, half from Singapore), with the support of large industrial groups (Thales SG, EDF SG, ESI group, CETIM Matcor, Naval Group, ARIA etc.).

DESCRIPTION

The research work concerns the remote sensing demonstrator developed in the context of the DesCartes project on the use of hybrid artificial intelligence for monitoring, diagnostic and prognostic in structural mechanics in strong connection with the industrial partners: Naval Group and CETIM.

From the already performed researches in the context of Descartes involving inverse identification by data assimilation (images and acoustic spectra) for localizing localized damages (with their sizes and severities) at the laboratory scale, the present position, aims at gaining maturity to prove the validity at the semi-industrial level.

The technologies will apply on pressurized reservoirs, composites and metallic, with data and monitoring provided by the industrial partners, Naval Group and CETIM respectively. Damages, delamination in composites and corrosion in the metallic case, will be identified by using mechanical models (with the reduced model counterparts) ensuring the learning, smart-sensing by locating the adequate sensors (static and piezo-electric) in the optimal location (while minimizing the number of sensors), the real-time data assimilation and the efficient solution (by using hybrid AI) of the associated inverse problems. The integration of all these technologies will constitute the reservoir digital twin.

The National Cybersecurity R&D Laboratory (NCL) is a shared national infrastructure that provides computing resources, repeatable and controllable experimentation environments, as well as application services for the cybersecurity R&D community. The infrastructure includes a cluster of 300 nodes that provides a wide range of provisioning mechanisms, security data and security services. NCL aims to provide a platform that fosters and encourages collaboration among researchers in academia, the industry as well as government bodies both locally and internationally through the sharing and validation of research outcomes. The laboratory was established in November 2015 and is funded by the National Research Foundation (NRF).

Job Description:

• Design and manage cloud-based computing system and network infrastructure
• Work on Security with AI, focusing on leveraging LLM for security applications
• Help to oversee our progress of our grants

Qualifications

• PhD in Computer Science or relevant
• Interest and experienced in looking for expertises in cloud security, applied cryptography, adversarial machine learning, etc
• Enthusiasm for problem-solving and able to work in a fast-paced environment
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively
