• Comply with approved standards of nursing practices

Administration

This role is funded by a Pharma Innovation Programme Singapore (PIPS) research grant. The primary responsibility of the role is to deliver a novel software solution, which supposedly will run on discrete-event simulation (DES) and deep reinforcement learning (DRL) optimization algorithms, to help pharmaceutical companies enhance the agility of their multi-product manufacturing process in an uncertain environment. To this end, by working closely with subject matter experts from the PIPS member companies (i.e., GSK, MSD, Pfizer, and Syngenta), you will:

• design and execute survey / interviews with subject matter experts to understand the agreed aspects of agility and use them as the basis for this project
• develop the DES model libraries on the AnyLogic platform to simulate different kinds of activities involved in the full pharmaceutical supply chain
• develop the DES plant model optimizer using explainable DRL algorithms with user-defined objective functions
• demonstrate the utility against company-supported use cases
• prepare a user manual to help the companies quickly grasp the knowledge to use or modify the novel utility

Key Responsibilities:

Coupling of different types of wave signals such as ship wakes, wind waves will be considered. The study of sediment transport will take the input from the wave dynamic simulations. Numerical simulations and experiments will be conducted.

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Research Officer (wet or dry) to join our team and work on Spatial and Single-Cell Genomics projects. The successful candidate will have a strong background in molecular biology, genomics, or a related field, and will be working closely with the research team for designing, executing and analyzing experiments related to drug response and drug delivery based on spatial transcriptomics and single-cell genomics.

Key Responsibilities:

Wet-capabilities

• Design, troubleshoot and execute experiments to investigate gene expression in single-cell and/or spatially resolved tissue samples
• Co-develop and optimize experimental protocols for single-cell genomics and spatial transcriptomics

Dry-capabilities

• Process and analyze large genomic data from transcriptomic and genomic assays including single-cell RNAseq, spatial transcriptomics, and other sequencing technologies (e.g. long reads)
• Co-develop algorithms and pipelines for single-cell genomics and spatial transcriptomics

General capabilities

• Maintain detailed experimental records and contribute to scientific discussions and reports (internally)
• Work collaboratively with other members of the team to develop and implement research strategies

Qualifications:

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, computer sciences, bioinformatics, or a related field
• For wet candidates: strong experience with molecular biology techniques, including (clinical) sample handling, PCR optimization, tissue culture, RNA isolation, and sequencing library preparation. Experience with microscopy, image analysis, and statistical analysis would be advantageous
• For dry candidates: Deep experience in single-cell genomics and/or spatial transcriptomics. Proficient in data analysis tools such as R, Python, familiar with analytical tools and algorithms. Comfortable with large data handling and processing.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with other team members
• Excellent organizational and communication skills

An exciting opportunity has risen for a highly motivated Senior Research Fellow to join the Singapore Institute for Clinical Sciences (SICS) to work with a collaborative and multidisciplinary team for the project “Completing the Picture: Strengthening Fathers" Roles in Early Child Health and Neurodevelopment Through Targeted Interventions”. The SRF will be responsible for leading data-intensive quantitative research on the interactions between familial environmental, focusing strongly on comparing paternal factors with maternal and other household member factors, and the broader environment (e.g. built and natural environment) on child health, well-being, and development. The SRF will utilize skills in big data management, especially harmonizing and linking geospatiotemporal data with longitudinal cohort data, as well as quantitative causal inference and quasi-experimental techniques, to produce new scientific knowledge, write manuscripts, create presentations and reports, and brief collaborators and other stakeholders (academic, government, community, industry, etc.) as needed.

Job Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be expected to engage in the following:

• Big data (geospatialtemoporal, multi-modal longitudinal cohort) management, processing, and analysis from a variety of sources (academic, government)
• Conduct quantitative causal inference analyses, e.g. quasi-experimental, instrumental variable, fixed-effects, difference-in-difference, etc.
• Where appropriate, conduct or advise on economic considerations in research, practice, or policy (e.g. program evaluation, cost-benefit analyses)
• Proactively seek out obtain, or develop new data sources that will support or expand the research
• Prepare reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders
• Leading communications with internal and external project stakeholders, including coordinating and conducting briefings
• Write manuscripts for publication in high-impact journals
• Work closely with the PI and research team while showing a high degree of autonomy and proactiveness

  • Strong quantitative skills, particularly in causal inference
