About The Job

We are looking for a Research Assistant to support the Principal Investigator (PI) and the research team with various aspects of a research study.

What You Will Be Doing

The appointee will report to the PI and work closely with senior researchers and stakeholders.The responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

• Literature review: Conducting reviews of existing literature to inform the study’s design and frame findings within the current body of knowledge.
• Data collection: Assisting in gathering data through experiments, surveys, interviews or other methodologies.
• Data management and analysis: Organizing, recording and analyzing data to ensure accuracy and relevance to research questions.
• Experiment setup and monitoring: Preparing materials, setting up study conditions and monitoring experimental processes to adhere to protocols.

Job Requirements

• A degree in psychology, education, cognitive science or a related field. Diploma holders with relevant research experience may be considered.
• At least 3 years of work experience, preferably in a research role and with familiarity in qualitative and quantitative research methods, including data collection through surveys and interviews, and data analysis tools (e.g. SPSS). Fresh graduates may be considered.
• Strong analytical skills, meticulous record-keeping and documentation skills, ability to engage respectfully and constructively with adult participants, ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines, and ability to work independently as well as within a team.
• Ability to communicate research findings and ideas clearly, both in writing and orally.

Research Associate in Assoc Prof Steve Yim's lab

The Air Pollution and Health team's research of Prof. Steve Yim focuses on the interactions between climate and air quality, and the resultant impacts on public health and ecosystem. The team's ongoing research is to develop, advance and utilize the state-of-the-art multi-scale atmospheric models, along with measurement and statistical approaches, to understand the mechanisms that drive the climate-air quality interactions, and evaluate the impacts on human exposure, mosquito abundance and soil acidity.

Particular interests are in investigating air quality impacts of sectoral emissions and transboundary air pollution at multiple spatial scales, studying regional climate change due to land-use changes and global climate change, and evaluating and quantifying the effects of air pollution on respiratory and cardiovascular diseases. The team also assesses and develops emission control scenarios to provide scientific-based policy solutions for a sustainable environment in present and future years.

Responsibilities:

The position will be required to develop and apply modeling techniques to simulate the spatial distribution of air pollutants in a city at a high spatial resolution. The model development requires to collect data at different aspects. The position will have to work on the data collection, data processing, model development and application, and data analyses. The Asian Thoracic Oncology Research Group (ATORG) was formed in 2016 to be the central coordinating platform for translational research and multi-centre clinical trials for thoracic malignancies in the Asia Pacific region. It is hosted by National Cancer Centre Singapore.

The Research Engineer will work under the Senior Researcher of Obayashi Construction Tech Lab Singapore (OCLS) on a collaborative research project with a university in Singapore. Qualifications:
