Who are we?

We are the University of Cambridge research centre in Singapore called Cambridge CARES, sponsored by the NRF CREATE program CAM.CREATE. Health-driven design for cities (HD4) is a collaborative research programme between the University of Cambridge, Nanyang Technological University and National University Singapore within Cambridge CARES.

HD4 sits at the heart of Singapore’s global research and development hub and paves the way for a sustainable and healthy city. It will undertake research in the following key areas: characterising the features of the environment that potentially impact health in Singapore; understanding the links between environmental factors, individual behaviour and health outcomes; observing the impact of environmental change on health in Singapore; simulating the impact of potential changes on the health of Singaporeans; and working with government agencies to co-develop data-rich public health tools.

The scientific techniques, technologies, tools and most importantly the knowledge gained through the programme will create a comprehensive systems view of how the urban environment affects population health in Singapore. The programme will train and enrich the talent pool of next generation of researchers, and benefit from local and international expertise and an innovative interdisciplinary research ecosystem. It will provide the basis for a data-rich public health framework, supporting the development of a healthy Singapore.

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Transport Modeller to join our project, HD4. Working collaboratively with a team of population health scientists, geospatial scientists, and data engineers, the post holder will lead on building an agent-based simulation model for Singapore. This role requires a multi-skilled individual that can work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

· Collaboration: Work closely with researchers to understand the data needs of the programme and contribute to the design of scientifically robust and policy relevant models linking transport, the built environment, and health outcomes

· Data synthesis: Collaborate with the data engineer and geo-spatial scientists to run simulations within a temporally and spatially detailed network

· Model building: Build operational agent based behavioural models covering vehicle ownership, trip generation, mode choice, destination choice, and route choice for diverse population groups.

· Validation: Ensure model robustness through checking, calibration, and validation.

· Support: Provide technical support and training to researchers.

· Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for model development. Support project reporting.

· Innovation: Stay updated with the latest advancements in transport modelling to incorporate new technologies and methodologies.

What skills will you need?

· Education: PhD degree in a relevant field.

· Experience: Proven experience in agent-based transport modelling.

· Skills:

1. Expertise in econometric travel behaviour modelling
2. Practical experience of simulation model building, calibration, and validation
3. Understanding of land use transport interaction models

Job Summary

A Postdoctoral position is available at the Berkeley Education Alliance for Research in Singapore (BEARS) with Assistant Professor Yanwei Lum. The goal of the project is to develop electrochemical systems for CO2 conversion and work with high sensitivity analytical tools that would be amenable for high throughput screening and reaction mechanism investigation. The candidate is expected to build model catalyst systems to investigate hypothesis and validate existing theories. They will also work in the framework of a larger team at BEARS for high throughput analysis and screening. It is expected that these will eventually lead to rationally designed catalysts for electrochemical CO­2 reduction.

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Perform materials synthesis and characterization.
2. Carry out electrochemical studies to determine electrocatalyst performance.
3. Perform product analysis and quantification using methods such as GC, HPLC and NMR.
4. Perform mechanistic studies of electrochemical CO2 reduction mechanisms.

Hosted by CNRS@CREATE, the program ‘Carbon Negative production of advanced Sustainable Aviation Fuels using twin synthetic bacterial consortia Project’ (CNegSAF) is an international collaboration between world leading institutions in France and Singapore including CNRS, Toulouse Biotechnology Institute (TBI), National University of Singapore, A*Star (SIFBI), and Nanyang Technological University. CNegSAF aims to demonstrate the feasibility of using a synthetic bacterial consortium to convert green hydrogen and concentrated waste CO2 (released by chemicals companies) into sustainable aviation biofuels. This innovative research program has the potential to significantly contribute to Singapore’s and the world net-zero emissions target while supplying sustainable aviation fuels to the aviation industry.

DESCRIPTION

To join this team, we are looking for a candidate who will be in charge of enzyme engineering activities using state-of-the-art evolutionary engineering and computational enzyme design techniques. The candidate will be involved in the development of screening protocols, construction and screening of enzyme libraries, designed by in silico molecular modelling. These enzymes will be further used for the creation of novel metabolic pathways for terpenoid production in engineered bacterial strains.
The perspective researcher will work in a multidisciplinary environment with access to high-throughput screening equipments (both in Singapore and Toulouse, France) and have frequent and strong interactions with other scientists involved in metabolic engineering, pathway engineering and computational enzyme design.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

• PhD in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biochemical engineering or related field

Duties of a Recovery Nurse

Recovery nurses provide critical care to patients before and after surgery. Recovery nurses treat a wide range of patients. They clean wounds, administer medication and monitor the progress of the patients' conditions

Before Surgery

• Work with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and surgical nurses to prepare patients for surgery.
• To record vital signs, instruct patients on the details of the procedures and administer intravenous therapy and medication.
• Help doctors transfer patients to the operating room, and may be asked to clean wounds, sterilize equipment and make sure patients' rooms are ready for their arrival.
• To communicate with loved ones and inform them of patients' conditions.

After Surgery

After surgery, recovery nurses are patients' primary care givers.
