We are seeking a motivated Research Assistant (RA) to support a multidisciplinary project that investigates prevention strategies for dengue and Covid-19 in Singapore (https://www.cnrsatcreate.cnrs.fr/space/). The research emphasizes the transformative role of digital technologies and AI in public health management.

Tasks:

• Conduct literature reviews on the use of digital technologies and AI applications in public health, focusing on dengue and Covid-19 prevention, monitoring, and control.
• Assist with data collection through interviews with stakeholders (public health officials, tech developers, researchers) and through document analysis of government reports, policies, and relevant publications.
• Support comparative analysis of prevention strategies, focusing on digital technologies (mobile apps, AI, IoT, drones) used in different countries.
• Analyze secondary health data (e.g. dengue incidence rates, app usage statistics, etc.) and integrate qualitative findings from interviews.

Job Description

One Research Engineer position is open in the research group of Assistant Professor Zhao Lin, at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, National University of Singapore (NUS).

The Research Engineer (RE) will work closely with the Principal Investigator (PI) on visual navigation foundation model for mobile robots, exploration using reinforcement learning control, learning-based control, etc. The RE will develop and train algorithms that enable intelligent and robust autonomous navigation in unseen environments. Hardware experiments will be carried out to test and demonstrate the applications of the developed algorithms.

The initial appointment duration is 12 months, which can then be extended based on an evaluation at the end of the initial appointment.

The candidates should have a Master’s degree from a reputable university, with expertise in robot learning, reinforcement learning, and aerial robotics.

A successful candidate should have a solid mathematical background (such as in calculus, linear algebra, ODE/PDE, optimization, real analysis, probability theory, stochastic process, etc). Strong publication records in leading journals and conferences of the relevant fields, and practical hands-on experience in applying visual foundation models to real mobile robots are required.

We are seeking to recruit a research fellow to join the Bezos Centre for Sustainable Protein at the National University of Singapore (NUS) launched on 5 September 2024, the first of its kind in Asia to advance research in alternative proteins. Led by experts from NUS and research institutes in Singapore, the Centre aims to drive global food security and accelerate regional innovation. The focus will be on microalgae research and biomass fermentation, to produce high-quality, affordable, and sustainable microbial proteins from microalgae and biomass fermentation that can be further developed into cultured meat and plant-based protein hybrids. Microbial proteins will be cultivated through fermentation and processed using emerging bio-physical techniques for effective biotransformation, to improve digestibility, flavour, and nutritional profile. As a research fellow, you will lead projects to optimise microalgae cultivation processes and apply bio-physical techniques to improve nutritional and organoleptic properties. Appointments will be initially made on a 1-year contract, renewable for up to 5 years.

Responsibilities:
- Conduct research activities in accordance with the Centre objectives involving but not limited to:
i. Conversion of industrial food side-streams into media suitable for microalgae cultivation.
ii. Microalgae cultivations in flask and benchtop bioreactors under batch, fed batch, or continuous modes.
iii. Conduct chromatographic, spectroscopic, and fluorescent analyses to monitor microalgae growth.

The Global Centre for Asian Women’s Health (GloW) aims to build a global research platform for transdisciplinary endeavours to address major health concerns over a woman's lifespan and across generations. Through its main hub in Singapore, the Centre will engage in multi-disciplinary research to promote women’s health, including a series of diet and lifestyle intervention studies.

Purpose of the role

The project coordinator/manager will play a key role in dietary intervention studies by actively managing and coordinating diet and lifestyle intervention studies in GloW. Responsibilities include development, implementation and monitoring of meal plans, educating participants as needed, collecting dietary data, and performing administrative duties to ensure the studies’ success and compliance. The staff will work closely with Principal Investigators of intervention studies, collaborate closely with the research team, food service team, and other relevant stakeholders, as well as undertake other ad-hoc responsibilities assigned by the Centre’s Director as needed.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The staff will hold a few key responsibilities, including

(1) Intervention study coordinator:

• Recruit and interview study participants for the intervention study
• Implement methods for collecting dietary data, including detailed food intake records and compliance monitoring.

Chronic unresolved inflammation is a key pathogenic feature of prevalent inflammatory disorders and related syndromes that together are predicted to affect close to 60 million people with an annual cost of $90B. As such, the global anti-inflammatory therapeutic market is in urgent need for new targets for therapeutic intervention.

The Ho lab at Duke-NUS is building a platform to mine the human genome for novel determinants of the inflammatory response. We are seeking an experienced researcher who will participate and drive the execution of this platform in collaboration with other senior members of the team. • Lead development of nude, syngeneic, and humanised mouse tumour models, with characterisation of immunophenotype with treatment response
• Collaborate on in vivo imaging strategies for pre-clinical characterisation of targeting probe specificity and sensitivity with PET/CT, SPECT/CT and/or optical imaging
• Monitor immune response to immunotherapies with longitudinal imaging assessments, supported with IHC, FACS
• Ensure regulatory compliance of research, including legal and ethical requirements

Job Requirements

• PhD in Immunology/Radiopharmaceutical Sciences or related disciplines
• Experience in multimodality imaging and image analysis (including PET, SPECT, CT and fluorescence) within the immuno-oncology domain is preferred
• Background in molecular biology, cell biology and oncology
• Experience in mouse studies (injection, anatomy, necropsy, pathology) is an advantage
• Proven track record of academic publications, including writing/drafting first author papers
• Self-motivated individual, enthusiastic to take initiatives, as well as able to work independently and collaboratively in a team
• Demonstrate excellent communication, technical independence, analytical and problem solving skills
