As the Program Officer, you will support the APLMA secretariat in driving awareness on the importance of malaria elimination, advocating for key issues to sustain elimination progress and ensuring malaria remains a highly visible locally, regionally and globally. You will also support communications efforts as well as provide broader support to the APLMA Secretariat’s advocacy efforts to elevate visibility of the Asia Pacific region’s drive to malaria elimination.

Responsibilities:

Program Communications

• Under the guidance of the Communications Manager, support and administer APLMA’s social media, digital engagement, website and newsletter.
• Develop and curate content, social media posts to amplify and profile key malaria elimination efforts and achievements in the region.
• Screen, curate and share media/journal/online articles relevant to APLMA's work and goals.
• Assist in the production of media kits, reports, websites, videos, campaigns and external communications.
• Liaise and work closely with agency partners to coordinate media briefings, events and interviews.

Internal Communications

Program Support

• Assist to collate regular program updates from various teams across the organization.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in public health, communications, journalism, public relations or related discipline.

We are seeking to recruit a proactive and motivated research assistant to join the Bezos Centre for Sustainable Protein at the National University of Singapore (NUS) launched on 5 September 2024, the first of its kind in Asia to advance research in alternative proteins. The focus will be on microalgae research and biomass fermentation, to produce high-quality, affordable, and sustainable microbial proteins from microalgae and biomass fermentation that can be further developed into cultured meat and plant-based protein hybrids. Microbial proteins will be cultivated through fermentation and processed using emerging bio-physical techniques for effective biotransformation, to improve digestibility, flavour, and nutritional profile. As a research assistant, you will assist with conducting and monitoring microalgal cultivation bioprocesses via analytical techniques to achieve maximal product titres, yields, and rates. The Asia Research Institute invites outstanding, active researchers from around the world to work on an important piece of Asia-centred research in the social sciences or humanities.

Apart from the quality of the research proposal, and the applicant’s publication track record, positions will be awarded on the basis of the relationship of their research topic to the identified priorities and themes of the cluster.

The Science, Technology, and Society (STS) Cluster concentrates on the relationship between those three domains in and beyond Asian settings, and their intersections with the environment in the past, present and future.

The cluster currently brings together a diverse, interdisciplinary group of researchers who work on the following research themes:

i) climate change and carbon governance;

ii) planetary health and ‘Asian medicines’;

iii) energy transitions, infrastructure and space;

iv) critical minerals.

The cluster welcomes diversity in methodological approaches, fosters interdisciplinary practices and encourages collaborative research projects. JOB DESCRIPTION

The Researcher will work under the supervision of the Cluster Leader and take the lead in duties such as organising workshops and conferences, participating in current cluster projects, and carrying out new projects (including applying for grant funding). Administrative duties and committee work will be assigned and form part of the position.
