A Research fellow position is available in Dr. Anand Andiappan Laboratory at the Singapore Immunology Network (SIgN). The successful candidate will support the research work that focuses on studying inflammaeing in the context of skin aging in Asian populations.

The candidate will work on primary cells from cohorts and cell culture systems towards understanding functional immune responses in skin immune interactions and recapitulating them in in-vitro and ex-vivo systems. Additional work involves cellular and stimulation assays with flow cytometry and FACS analysis along with imaging by microscopy, and associated data analysis with statistical tested.

TaRgeted Analysis of Novel Secreted Factors for Obesity Reduction and Metabolic Health (TRANSFORM)

Description:

Multi-omic analysis of secreted factors from various datasets was carried out, including human, mouse and primate plasma and metabolic tissues to identify novel primate-specific secreted factors critically involved in the regulation of physiology balance. Integrative data analysis and in silico rank scoring revealed a list of promising secreted factor candidates. We will be using model organisms (e.g. mice, zebrafish) to conduct phenotypic screens and prioritize candidates for detailed validation, characterization, mode-of-action studies and therapeutic strategies.

The project will entail a close characterization of these host factors and their role in the viral life cycle as well as the modulation of the immune response of small animal model to these viruses. In addition to multi-Omics approaches (including single-cell and spatial), protein-protein interactions, microscopy, functional genomics, viral reverse genetics and CRISPR Cas9 gene editing will be some of the tools used to investigate this viral hijacking and understand the host-viral interplay.
