Job Description
We are looking for a highly motivated Research Fellow candidate to join Dr Jiong-Wei Wang’s research programs to work on a heart immunology project in the Cardiovascular Research Institute and Department of Surgery, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. The candidate is expected to work independently in a dynamic and multidisciplinary environment. In collaboration with A*STAR (Dr. Florent Ginhoux and Dr. Baptiste Janela), the project aims at elucidating the roles of specific immune cell populations in heart injury and identifying therapeutic targets for cardiovascular disease, focusing on the immunology perspectives in ischemia heart disease. The candidate will perform cell culture, western blotting, FACS analysis and a variety of cell viability assessment assays, as well as in vivo experiments in mice, ranging from daily care to surgical procedures and the interpretation of the results. Apart from own projects, the candidate may supervise junior staff and students, and provide support to the research group, as delegated by the PI. The appointment is on a 2-year contract base in the first instance with a possibility of extension. The candidate will be responsible to, and work closely with, the Principal Investigator and study team members to ensure the successful completion of the experiments on time.
Qualifications
The applicant should have:
(a) A PhD degree in pharmacology or biomedical research; preferably with experience in immunology and animal studies. Experience in myocardial infarction animal models will be prioritized.
(b) An excellent publication record in cardiovascular research field.
(c) Extensive experience in flow cytometry and animal experiments as well as cell culture and molecular biology skills.
(d) Team player with an investigative nature and attention to details.
Remuneration will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience. The candidate is eligible for 28 days annual leave and staff welfare including medical insurance.
