The Air Pollution and Health team's research of Prof. Steve Yim focuses on the interactions between climate and air quality, and the resultant impacts on public health and ecosystem. The team's ongoing research is to develop, advance and utilize the state-of-the-art multi-scale atmospheric models, along with measurement and statistical approaches, to understand the mechanisms that drive the climate-air quality interactions, and evaluate the impacts on human exposure, mosquito abundance and soil acidity.

Particular interests are in investigating air quality impacts of sectoral emissions and transboundary air pollution at multiple spatial scales, studying regional climate change due to land-use changes and global climate change, and evaluating and quantifying the effects of air pollution on respiratory and cardiovascular diseases. The team also assesses and develops emission control scenarios to provide scientific-based policy solutions for a sustainable environment in present and future years.

Responsibilities:

The position will be required to develop and apply modeling techniques to simulate the spatial distribution of air pollutants in a city at a high spatial resolution. The model development requires to collect data at different aspects. The position will have to work on the data collection, data processing, model development and application, and data analyses. The position has to document the model development and results in reports and peer-review international journals. The position will also have to complete tasks that his/her supervisor assigns.

Research Fellow position available to lead research projects in Optics and Photonics. Particularly we are interested in the specific topic of nanoantenna-enhanced light emitting devices. A research officer position in the areas of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) for spatial omics and precision medicine is available at the Loo Lab in the Bioinformatics Institute (BII), A*STAR, Singapore. The group develops next-generation spatial omics assays, cellular phenotype analysis methods, and machine learning models to predict patient drug responses. The group also develops and manages the HistoPath Analytics (HPA) Platform and ImmunoAtlas (https://ImmunoAtlas.org) for automated management, visualization, and analysis of large multiplex tissue images and spatial multi-omics data.

The successful candidate will be part of an interdisciplinary team working on the development of new biomarkers and image analysis methods for cancer diagnosis and precision medicine. The main responsibility is to develop and apply novel AI and ML models and methods for analyzing large multiplex tissue images and spatial transcriptomic and metabolomic data collected from cancer patients. The candidate will also perform computational algorithm implementation and benchmarking, present research findings at international conferences, and publish in high-impact scientific journals. The successful applicant will join an expanding team to work on projects in the field of Psychosocial support for familial caregivers. The applicant will be working in the research lab “Action Research for Community Health (ARCH)”, and the primary study involves an intervention study that develops and test the efficacy of a novel culinary programme to support familial caregivers of individuals with cancer. The successful candidate is expected to work closely with professionals in the field of medicine, cancer care, nutrition, as well as with clinical population groups.

Research Assistant/Project Officer is expected to plan, organize and implement research projects, in collaboration with principal investigators. The specific roles include project coordination, liaison with community collaborators, literature review, supporting data collection and research implementation, data transcription and data analysis, compile findings and drafting of research reports, as well as co-author academic journal publications with project principal investigators.

Key Responsibilities:

Coordination and Implementation

• Coordinate programme logistics, including scheduling coaching sessions, ensuring smooth and efficient operations, acting as key liaison with institutional and external collaborators
• Facilitate the recruitment and enrollment of eligible caregivers into the programme
• Provide ongoing support and information to program participants
• Coordinate equipment and access to facilities among researchers within the lab

Documentation and Reporting

• Maintain accurate and detailed records of programme activities and progress towards program goals
• Prepare regular progress reports and presentations for stakeholders and funding partners
• Ad-hoc research project administrative support

Monitoring and Evaluation

• Implement data collection to assess the impact and effectiveness of the program on participants' psychosocial well-being and overall quality of life
• Organize, manage and analyze collected data
• Engage in data transcription
• Contribute to the writing of research reports, inclusive of literature review and journal publications

Job Requirements:

• Possesses a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, counselling, social work, health science or related fields from a reputable university

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

The Manager is a specialist in a specific area of health services research (HSR) with good understanding of the broad HSR landscape and trend. The Manager will offer both technical & administrative leadership and work closely with other members of a multi-disciplinary team to conduct research, particularly in his/her field of specialty, into the medical, social, economic and ethical implications of health care services to inform policy and medical decision-making as well as provide pragmatic, impactful healthcare solutions for resource planning and operations management.

The Manager will seek to pursue publication and presentation opportunities in peer-reviewed journals and international or local conferences as well as to conduct educational activity to promote and enable health services research in CGH community. The Manager will also be responsible to mentor and develop junior members within the department in his/her area of specialty. In addition, the Manager will support his/her HOD in the management of departmental manpower deployment, staff development needs, as well as oversee departmental operating and capital expenditure.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Organization of day-to-day analytical and research activities which include study design, analysis, preparation of manuscripts/reports/proposals
• Work with various stakeholders (including industry/academic partners) and HSR team members to advise and contribute to the formulation of research questions, design and analysis of research projects
