Job Description

The Research Assistant will participate in seagrass research, with a specific focus on examining seagrass reproduction. A large component of the work is to be conducted in the field. The Research Assistant will lead and execute field sampling, laboratory analysis and some aquaria experimentation. The successful candidate will work with PI Ben Wainwright in the department of biological sciences at NUS.

Using samples from multiple marine species that have been collected along an approximate 6000km east to west transect from Sumatra to Papua New Guinea, the candidate will work on a project that seeks to explain why the marine ecosystems of the Coral Triangle are so biologically diverse, what facilitates and what restricts gene flow in the region, and finally, how can this information be used to advance marine conservation planning in Southeast Asia.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all daily office operations and ensure smooth functioning of administrative processes.

Accountabilities

Two principal prioritities for this role:

(1) Assisting GC, Asia to deliver on key objectives in Asia:

Technical

- Regulatory experience and exposure with a Financial Regulatory Authority.
