Job Responsibilities

The Healthcare Assistant supports and assists the nurses (Registered Nurses (RN) and Enrolled Nurses (EN) in delivery of nursing care to residents and helps to maintain a clean, safe and comfortable environment for them.
Complies with MOH approved standards of nursing practices and advisories.
Participates in activities to improve the quality of care.
Attends to needs of the residents. Ensures the safety, comfort and well-being of the residents and reports resident’s needs to the nurse.
Checks, monitors and records residents’ vital signs such as temperature, pulse, respiration and blood pressure.
Ensures the comfort and good personal hygiene of the residents under her/his care, e.g. bed bath/shoer bath, changing of clothes and bed sheets, keeping them clean and dry or to moisturize skin when required.
Transfer and positioning of non-ambulant residents.
Assist in the conduct of daily exercise for the residents.
Assist in serving/ feeding meals and drinks to residents and wash up dishes/ utensils after serving/ feeding.
Report accurate documentation of care given to the nurses.
Assist the nurse in nursing care, e.g. caring for residents with urinary catheter.
Accompany residents for walks and for their outing trips.
Alerts nurses to emergency situations.
Work with co-workers and nurses to maintain a safe and clean environment in the nursing home.
Carries out any other duties assigned by Nurses/ SNAs/ NAs/ Senior HCA.
