Job Description

The Business Development Manager

The Business Development Manager will play a pivotal role in identifying new business opportunities, cultivating strategic partnerships, and maintaining strong client relationships within the maritime industry. This role focuses on aggressively pursuing sales targets, expanding market presence, and establishing SG Group as a leader in high value harbour craft operations. Reporting directly to Commercial Director, the Business Development Manager will be a key driver in achieving our ambitious growth objectives.

Key Responsibilities

1. Business Development

· Identify and assess new business opportunities within the maritime sector.

· Develop and implement strategies to enter emerging markets and secure critical contracts.

· Conduct market research and analyze competitors to uncover industry trends and opportunities.

· Aggressively pursue and close new business opportunities with ship agencies, chandlers, and other key stakeholders in the maritime sector.

· Develop and execute strategies to enter emerging markets, secure critical contracts and expand market presence in high-value OPL operations.

· Proactively manage the sales pipeline to achieve monthly.

· Conduct in-depth market research and analysis to uncover trends and identify new opportunities.

2. Client Relationship Management

· Leverage an extensive network to secure long-term contracts and partnerships with key clients.

· Build and nurture strong relationships with existing and potential clients, stakeholders, and partners.

· Serve as the primary point of contact for key accounts, ensuring excellent client satisfaction.

· Negotiate and finalize contracts to achieve or exceed sales targets.

3. Strategic Planning

· Collaborate with senior management to align business development initiatives with company goals.

· Provide actionable insights into sales forecasts, pipeline health, and deal progress to ensure informed decision-making.

· Provide insights to support product development and refine service offerings based on market demand.

· Prepare and manage sales forecasts, budgets, and performance metrics.

4. Industry Expertise

· Stay informed about maritime industry regulations, technological advancements, and global market trends.

· Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and trade shows to promote the brand and network.

· Monitor industry developments to maintain a competitive edge.

5. Team Collaboration

· Collaborate with marketing, operations, and technical teams to deliver comprehensive client solutions.

· Guide and mentor junior team members in business development best practices.

Qualifications and Skills

· Education

o Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Maritime Studies, Engineering, or a related field.

o An MBA or equivalent is advantageous.

· Experience

o 4-5 years of success in business development or sales within the maritime or shipping industry. of proven success in business development or sales within the maritime, shipping, or harbour craft industry.

o Demonstrated ability to secure and grow high-value accounts.

o Background in ship agency, ancillary services, launch operations, or harbour craft operations is highly preferred.

o Experience managing large accounts and coordinating with cross-functional teams.

· Skills

o Exceptional pipeline management and deal-closing skills.

o Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building abilities.

o Comprehensive knowledge of the maritime industry, including shipping, logistics, and offshore services.

o Analytical skills to identify trends and make data-driven decisions.

o Proficiency in CRM tools and the MS Office Suite.

Key Responsibilities:

• Creating development plans and forecasting sales targets and growth projections
• Identifying market opportunities through meetings, networking and other channels
• Meeting existing and potential clients and building positive relationships
• Liaising with colleagues to develop sales and marketing strategies
• Preparing financial projections and sales targets
• Attending events such as exhibitions and conferences
• Preparing sales presentations and participating in sales meetings
• Present sales reports and realistic forecasts to the management team
• Recruit sales personnel, set objectives, train and coach them, and monitor their performance
• Ensure that Sales targets are met by holding daily check-ins with the sales team to set objectives and monitor progress
• Develop plans to use new technologies to improve business processes.

Requirements:

• Diploma in any discipline
• Minimum 2 years of offline Sales experience from an e-commerce or retail background, with experience leading a sales team
• Strong problem-solving, strategic, and analytical capabilities
• Flexible and adapt to work in an exciting start-up environment

• Able to work in a fast paced environment
• Assist in overseeing day-to-day operations.
• Handle and solve issues or complaints in a professional manner.
• Ensure customer satisfaction.
• Need to conduct checks to ensure that enough products are on hand to serve customers, order items as needed, and generate inventory reports for superiors.
• Maintain inventory and control costs in daily operations.
• Oversee food service, and act as an expeditor, when necessary, to ensure the timely movement of completed food orders from kitchen to customer table
• Minimum 3 years of working experience in F&B industry.
• Possess good supervisory skills such as accountability, organizing and planning skills.
• Able to work under pressure in a fast-paced, dynamic and challenging work environment.
• Customer oriented, service focus, responsible and positive working attitude.
• Able to work split shifts, weekends and public holidays.

• Supervising a team of retail assistants to ensure smooth operation
• Responsible for the sales of your category of products
• Handle inventory management, housekeeping and merchandising
• Demonstrate outstanding customer service and selling skills, keeping the selling floor stocked with merchandise, assisting in display of merchandise or organizing the selling floor and stock areas.
• Process payments by totaling purchases; processing cash or other credit cards
• Must also be able to deal with customer refunds courteously and professionally

Requirement:

Willing to work on roster based on retail hours.

Team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Working hours:

• 6 days roster based (retail hour 10am to 10pm)
• 1 weekday off

2. Commission. Estimated about S$500 and above. Commission will be given based on personal sales
