Overview
Apollo is seeking an individual to join the Institutional Client Group (ICG) to lead the business management function. This role will be working closely with the CPS COO organization and the Head of APAC Institutional Client Group on day-to-day business management, coordinating initiatives across both the APAC ICG and broader Capital Formation functions, and managing a cadence of operating rhythms and routines for the business.
This role will also provide a centralized point of connectivity in driving team co-ordination across the globe, and support development of fundraising strategies across the different pillars of capital formation internally. The role includes involvement in the strategic priorities for the firm and the region and is expected to be a transformational learning opportunity for a high-potential candidate.
The individual must possess high EQ as they will interact with a variety of constituents, manage an array of priorities on a day-to-day basis and must be able to respond quickly and accurately on time-sensitive deliverables. They will require knowledge of all business areas, exceptional relationship management, communication and influencing skills at all levels, and a strong focus on execution.
Primary Responsibilities
Strategic Planning and Execution
- Partner closely with ICG COO/Global COO team and APAC Head of ICG in the development and execution of strategic business plans for institutional fundraising in the region.
- Oversee and ensure progress on team initiatives and projects that serve to optimize the sales model, ensure best practice to achieve sales excellence, establish and drive regional market business plans, go to market strategies for new products.
- Ensure consistent updates, manage business reporting cadence, and help drive progress and execution.
Coordination & Business Management
- Provide input into Asia regional reporting. Manage the weekly/monthly/quarterly machine including all internal capital formation, product, and senior management meetings. Anticipate issues, manage agendas, and track follow ups.
- Work closely with the head of Asia and the Asia regional COO team to ensure goals and initiatives are aligned across the region and that critical information is shared and captured in real time.
- Work with marketing to coordinate content/client-engagement at conferences/events, and broader branding events in the region.
- Track both business and individual KPIs and assist the head of ICG in performance management of the broader sales team.
- Own reporting process for Asia sales team (ad hoc and regular) for sales pipelines, capital raising, activity tracking, etc.
- Help to drive business planning and analysis, project management, business administration, and implementation of technology solutions (in partnership with Digital, Data, and Enablement team).
- Coordinate with other global ICG COO team members to maintain single source of truth.
- Work with other COO teams, Finance, Human Capital, and other business partners on cross-functional workstreams and initiatives.
- Monitor and maintain integrity of client relationship management systems and other key reporting tools.
Qualifications & Experience
- Excellent education and academic record.
- 5-8 years of prior fund raising and/or investment experience, preferably within a traditional or alternative asset management firm.
- Sound understanding of alternatives, particularly private credit and equity.
- Ability to cultivate and manage senior stakeholder relationships both regionally and globally.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with colleagues, partners, and clients.
- Advisor mindset, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Capable of understanding complex operational processes and concepts and articulating it in layman terms to relevant parties to facilitate solutions.
- An enthusiastic self-starter with a proactive and hands-on approach. High energy and drive, and comfort with working in a lean, fast-paced environment, demonstrating a willingness to ‘roll up their sleeves’.
- A strong compliance culture and commitment to adhere to and embrace internal compliance policies.
