The Sales Manager is responsible for all local sales activities, accounts and meetings in line with the annual sales plan. He/she works in a smart and savvy way to achieve hotel budgets. He/she is creative in his/her approach and work towards a successful hotel sales strategy.

Duties and Responsibilities
Financial Returns:
ยท Monitors competitorsโ activities and assists in collection of marketing intelligence to share with the team.
ยท Aware of sales strategy and goals when selling to negotiate optimum rate for the benefit of the business.
ยท Sells all facets of the hotel with a view to optimizing opportunities for revenue growth.
ยท Monitors existing business and inputs into sales strategy meetings to maximize opportunities.
ยท Grows existing business and pursues all future business opportunities.
ยท Initiates and prepares tender for business.
ยท Assesses sales data.
ยท Works with leadership team in the preparation and management of the Sales & Marketing budget.
ยท Assists in the preparation of the annual departmental operating budget.
ยท Monitors budget and controls expenses in sales.
People:
ยท Works collaboratively with all team members from all departments.
ยท Manages key accounts.
ยท Travels when required to promote the hotel and develop potential business.
ยท Maintains regular contact with cluster sales and marketing team members to keep abreast with any IHG initiatives.
ยท Encourages high service standards in the hotel through training and leading by example.
ยท Ensures all colleagues are aligned with the Make Every Connection Count brand service behavior.
ยท Interfaces with operations on a timely basis in regards to future and existing needs for customers.
Guest Experience:
ยท Follows Holiday Inn Express behaviors when working with internal and external customers.
ยท Services existing business through management of account base.
ยท Maintains an accurate and up to date database of clients and contacts.
ยท Responds to guestโs feedback in a timely and takes corrective action to resolve the concerns and partners other departments to ensure similar concerns do not happen again.
ยท Supports loyalty contribution through a proactive approach toward enrolment and ensures accuracy and transparency crediting IHG Business Rewards points.
ยท Develops and maintains contact with business generators, meeting and convention planners, visitors/convention bureau, travel agents, tour operators, airlines, corporate accounts, government departments and other producers closely aligned to hotel business.
ยท Builds profile within local market place through attendance at appropriate events.
ยท Entertains clients with a view to maximizing business opportunities.
ยท Supports and joins (where appropriate) sales and marketing team members in familiarization tours, site inspections and sales visits.
ยท Assists with the preparation of new products and services.
ยท Assists in the evaluation of sales and marketing activities.
ยท Analyses sales mix and likely impact on hotel goals.
ยท Maintains a neat and organized filing system (manual and electronic).
Responsible Business:
- Ensures a safe and secure environment for guests, team members and hotel assets in compliance with hotelโs or ownerโs policies and procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Develops and carries out action plans to be environmentally conscious by taking steps to reduce the hotelโs carbon footprint.
- Acting responsibly when working with hotel budget and expenses, seeking prior approval where required.
Perform other duties as assigned by Director of Sales or as required.
