Job Overview:

The Business Development Manager (BDM) for a Minimart is responsible for expanding the business, increasing sales, and driving overall profitability through new customer acquisition, partnerships, and market expansion. This role involves identifying market opportunities, managing client relationships, enhancing the store's brand, and developing strategies to boost product offerings and store visibility. The BDM works closely with operations, marketing, and supply chain teams to ensure growth and success within a highly competitive retail environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Market Expansion and Strategy Development:

• Identify new market opportunities for store locations and online platforms.
  Develop strategic plans to increase store foot traffic, improve sales, and expand the customer base.

Sales and Revenue Growth:

• Develop and implement sales strategies to meet or exceed revenue targets for the Minimart.
  Oversee promotional campaigns, product launches, and seasonal offers to drive sales.

Customer Relationship Management:

Supplier and Vendor Management:

  Manage and optimize local advertising, such as flyers, billboards, and event sponsorships.
  

Operational Support and Collaboration:

• Collaborate with store management and the operations team to ensure efficient day-to-day business activities.
  Support store teams in achieving operational goals, including improving customer service, product availability, and store cleanliness.
  Conduct staff training on product knowledge, sales techniques, and customer service practices.
  

Financial Management:

• Monitor sales data and financial performance to track profitability and ensure budgets are adhered to.

Stocking and Inventory Management:

• Unload deliveries from trucks and move products to their designated storage areas.
• Stock shelves with heavy items (such as bulk goods, packaged food, cleaning supplies, etc.).
• Rotate stock, ensuring older products are used first to minimize waste.
• Help maintain accurate inventory by assisting with stock counts and reporting discrepancies.

Product Handling and Movement:

• Move large, heavy items across the store as needed for product displays or restocking.
  Ensure that the products are stored securely and safely in appropriate locations to prevent damage or accidents.
  Assist in loading and unloading merchandise into and out of storage areas and delivery trucks.
  

Facility Maintenance:

• Ensure the store is clean, organized, and well-maintained, including areas where heavy items are stored.
  Assist with the repair and maintenance of store equipment as needed (e.g., shelving units, refrigeration units).
  Handle cleaning tasks that require physical effort, such as sweeping, mopping, and maintaining storage areas.
  

Assist with Store Layout and Displays:

• Help arrange products in the store to create an appealing and efficient store layout.
  Set up promotional displays or end-cap sections for featured products.
  Move heavy items around the store for seasonal changes, special promotions, or other marketing events.
  

Customer Assistance (when required):

• Assist customers with heavy purchases, such as helping them load large or bulky items into their vehicles.
  Provide help with carrying items to the checkout or assisting in moving products to the customer’s designated area.
  

Safety and Compliance:

• Follow all safety procedures when handling heavy items to avoid injury.
  Ensure that the work area is free of obstructions and that heavy lifting is done with proper techniques.
  Maintain a safe environment by adhering to health and safety regulations and reporting any hazardous situations.
  

Assist with Store Deliveries:

• Receive and inspect deliveries of heavy stock, ensuring that everything matches the order.
  Manage the logistics of moving large shipments within the store for easy accessibility.
  Assist in coordinating the storage and restocking process for large deliveries.
  

Support in Seasonal Changes:

• Help prepare the store for seasonal events, such as stocking up on holiday goods or moving large seasonal inventory.

Requirements:

1) Minimum diploma in marketing or other related qualifications

2) Experience in skincare / beauty wellness / aromatherapy with proven sales records will be advantageous.

3) Ability to communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively to clients

4) Strong negotiation and consultative sales skills.

5) Participates exhibition experience will be advantageous
