Deputy Managing Director, Business Group
Overview:
Our client is seeking an experienced, dynamic, and strategic Deputy Managing Director to support the Managing Director in overseeing and leading their diverse operations in Laundry Management (providing laundry services to hospitals in Singapore), Business Outsourcing Services, Bakery Operations and Kitchen Operations in a correctional facility.
The ideal candidate will be a results-driven leader with a strong background in managing multi-functional operations, a keen financial acumen, and a proven ability to drive strategic growth. This individual will play a critical role in steering the company’s overall direction while ensuring operational excellence, efficiency, and profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership to oversee the daily operations of laundry services, bakery operations, business outsourcing services, and kitchen operations in a correctional facility.
- Develop and execute business strategies that align with the company’s overall goals and vision.
- Establish operational goals and metrics, and drive continuous improvement initiatives across all business areas.
- Work closely with the Executive Team to formulate and implement long-term strategic plans, contributing to the company’s growth and sustainability.
Operations and Financial Management:
- Oversee the operational efficiency of all business units, ensuring smooth and cost-effective service delivery.
- Develop and manage annual budgets, analyse financial performance, and implement corrective actions where necessary.
- Ensure that key performance indicators (KPIs) for each operational area are met, including profitability, service delivery standards, and customer satisfaction.
- Drive cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality and service excellence.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a diverse team of managers across different operations to ensure high performance and professional growth.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability within the teams.
- Provide leadership and guidance to ensure that all teams are aligned with the company’s vision, values, and objectives.
Client and Stakeholders Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, especially hospitals and correctional facilities, to ensure service excellence and client satisfaction.
- Act as the primary point of contact for external stakeholders, including suppliers, partners, and regulatory bodies;
- Manage contract negotiations and ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and service level agreements.
Operational Excellence and Risk Management:
- Monitor industry trends, market conditions, and competitor activities to ensure the company remains competitive and complaint.
- Oversee quality control measures to maintain high service standards across all operations.
- Identify potential risks to business operations and implement proactive strategies to mitigate them.
Job Requirements:
Experience:
- Minimum 10 years of experience in operations management, with a proven track record of success in leading multi-functional teams.
- Previous experience in overseeing complex operations in laundry services, bakery operations, business outsourcing services, or kitchen operations, especially in a regulated or high-demand environment (e.g., hospitals, correctional facilities).
- Strong experience in financial management, budgeting, and performance analysis, with a solid understanding of P&L management.
Skills and Competencies:
- Exceptional leadership abilities, with experience in managing large, cross-functional teams.
- Strong strategic thinker with the ability to align day-to-day operations with the broader business goals.

Qualifications:
- A degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field (MBA preferred).
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards, particularly within the healthcare, correctional, and food services sectors, is a plus.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
