PURPOSE

We are seeking a General Manager who will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the logistics & planning operations, including optimizing warehouse configuration, warehousing inventory management, and transportation distribution. GM will develop and implement strategies to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance customer satisfaction. This role requires strong leadership, strategic planning, operational management skills and profound intricacies of Japanese business.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education

• Degree in business, Supply chain or equivalent field preferred.

Technical Skills and Prior Experience

• Minimum 20 years work-related experience in warehouse / logistics / planning business.
• Specialised in the Japanese market environment, prior experience working in a Japanese company or with Japanese clients is highly advantageous.
• Network of relationships with key decision makers in the Japanese market will be a significant asset.
• Global mindset with ability to operate effectively in a global environment, collaborating with colleagues from different region, cultures and time zones.
• Possess sufficient knowledge and experience in warehouse / logistics / planning business.
• Must be IT proficient and able to thrive in a fast-paced setting. Have strong knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Manage the project management processes for engineering and construction related works.
• Manage and /or monitoring project schedules, cost and risk.
• Implement integrated Project Management Information Systems and use of industry standard tools and software platforms for project control.
• Co-ordinate discussions among various project design teams, clients and to achieve project objectives and goals.
• Ensure the Project controls team produce weekly / monthly reports in line with the project and company reporting calendar, providing details on progress, actuals, forecast and explanation of variances.

3. Inventory Management

• Stock Monitoring: Ensure that inventory levels are accurate and aligned with demand forecasts. This includes managing both raw materials and finished goods.
• Warehouse Organization: Supervise the storage, organization, and retrieval of inventory in warehouses or distribution centers.
• Inventory Control: Implement and monitor procedures to prevent stockouts, overstocking, and inventory shrinkage.

4. Warehouse Operations

• Warehouse Layout Design: Optimize warehouse space for efficient storage, retrieval, and handling of goods.
• Staff Management: Hire, train, and supervise warehouse employees, ensuring proper safety standards and productivity levels are maintained.
• Order Fulfillment: Oversee the picking, packing, and dispatching of orders, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.

5. Budgeting and Cost Control

• Cost Management: Monitor logistics-related expenses, including transportation, warehousing, and handling costs, and find ways to reduce them.
• Budget Preparation: Prepare annual logistics budgets and ensure that operations stay within financial constraints.
• KPI Monitoring: Track key performance indicators (KPIs) like on-time delivery rates, cost-per-shipment, and inventory turnover.

6. Compliance and Documentation

• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with local, regional, and international shipping regulations, including customs requirements, transportation safety standards, and environmental regulations.
• Documentation: Oversee the preparation and management of shipping and customs documentation, bills of lading, inventory reports, and other logistics paperwork.

7. Technology and Systems Management

• ERP and WMS Systems: Implement and oversee the use of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) to optimize logistics processes.
• Data Analysis: Utilize data analytics tools to monitor and improve logistics operations, identifying trends, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement.

8. Customer Service

• Communication: Act as the point of contact for internal teams, suppliers, customers, and carriers to ensure smooth logistics operations.
• Issue Resolution: Resolve any issues related to transportation delays, damaged goods, or lost shipments, ensuring customer satisfaction.

Job Description

• The Contracts/Commercial Manager is responsible for the overseeing commercial and contractual aspects related to the main contract and subcontracts, managing any commercial and contractual risk relating to the project and employ mitigation actions as quickly and effectively as possible.
• Review external providers (i.e vendors and subcontractors) terms of service and project deliverables.
• Provides contractual advisory from the commercial perspective to the project through all stages: construction, subcontracting, completion and hand-over,Provides support to the Quantity Surveyor
• team in the project, monitoring, reporting, planning and coordinating all aspects of their work.
• Proactively engages in continuous improvement and review of existing processes, systems and policies that may support the project’s contract management and administration.
• Advises on all contractual correspondence related to the project, considering commercial impact Identify, assess and manage / advise on contractual risk
• Manages contractual claims, disputes, settlements and resolution
• Communicates effectively with a wide range of stakeholders both verbally and in written notices eg. extension-of-time (EOT) , change order, etc.
