Lead AV Specialist
The Audio Visual Technical Lead will report directly to the ICT Director and have a dotted line to the Preschool, Elementary, and High School Principals. This hands-on role oversees the design and supports the school's audio visual (AV) systems and operations. The ideal candidate will manage AV systems, support staff with AV needs, and ensure seamless integration of AV technology in both learning environments and school events.
Responsibilities
AV System Design and Management
- System Design: Lead the design and architecture of the school's IP-based AV infrastructure, including network configurations, audio and video distribution systems, and control systems.
- System Installation: Oversee the installation of AV equipment, ensuring proper cabling, mounting, and configuration.
- System Maintenance: Develop and implement a proactive maintenance schedule to minimise downtime and optimise system performance.
- System Upgrades: Stay updated on the latest AV technologies and recommend upgrades to improve functionality and efficiency.
Technical Support
- Event Support: Provide on-site technical support for a variety of events, including conferences, performances, and classroom presentations.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve technical issues with AV equipment and systems.
- User Support: Assist users with AV equipment operation and troubleshooting.
Facilities Management
- Facility Management: Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of AV facilities, including the High School Assembly Hall, Chapel, HS Canteen, Solomon Hall, Glass Hall, Indoor Sports Hall and Elementary School Pavillion.
- Equipment Management: Manage the inventory and maintenance of AV and music equipment, including repairs and replacements.
- Resource Management: Coordinate the booking and scheduling of Venues and AV equipment.
Training and Development
- Staff Training: Conduct training programs for teachers and staff on the use of AV equipment and software.
- Student Training: Develop and deliver AV training programs for students, including AV clubs and extracurricular activities.
- Curriculum Support: Collaborate with music and drama teachers to integrate AV technology into the curriculum.
Problem Solving
- Problem Solving: Identify and implement solutions to AV challenges.
Collaboration
- Interdepartmental Collaboration: Work closely with IT, facilities, and academic departments to ensure seamless integration of AV systems.
- Vendor Collaboration: Coordinate with vendors to procure, install, and maintain AV equipment.
Inventory and Asset Management
- Inventory Management: Maintain accurate inventory records of AV equipment and supplies.
- Asset Management: Manage the lifecycle of AV assets, including procurement, deployment, maintenance, and disposal.
Research and Innovation
- Technology Research: Stay up-to-date on the latest AV technologies and industry trends.
- Innovation: Explore innovative AV solutions to enhance the learning experience.
- Future Planning: Develop long-term AV strategies to support the school's educational goals.
Undertake any other duties assigned by the ICT Director
Requirements:
- 5 years relevant IT experience preferably in the school environment.
- Experience in leading a team.
- A team player with sound planning and organizing skills
- Proficient with operating, troubleshooting and maintaining AV and sound equipment
- Good organisational skills with the ability to mutli-task and prioritise effectively.
- Service-oriented individual with strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills are essential.
Qualifications
- A degree in AV technology or related programs is strongly preferred.
- Team management and leadership capacity
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CTS, Dante, Crestron, Extron, AVOIP) are a plus.
- Good references on request
Working hours: 7.45 am to 4.45 pm, Monday to Friday, plus occasional staff meetings and training. Some weekend or late-night duties are expected to support maintenance, installations or upgrades in non-business hours.
