The Sales Manager is responsible for all local sales activities, accounts and meetings in line with the annual sales plan. He/she works in a smart and savvy way to achieve hotel budgets. He/she is creative in his/her approach and work towards a successful hotel sales strategy.

Duties and Responsibilities
Financial Returns:
· Monitors competitors’ activities and assists in collection of marketing intelligence to share with the team.
· Aware of sales strategy and goals when selling to negotiate optimum rate for the benefit of the business.
· Sells all facets of the hotel with a view to optimizing opportunities for revenue growth.
· Monitors existing business and inputs into sales strategy meetings to maximize opportunities.
· Grows existing business and pursues all future business opportunities.
· Initiates and prepares tender for business.
· Assesses sales data.
· Works with leadership team in the preparation and management of the Sales & Marketing budget.
· Assists in the preparation of the annual departmental operating budget.
· Monitors budget and controls expenses in sales.
People:
· Works collaboratively with all team members from all departments.
· Manages key accounts.
· Travels when required to promote the hotel and develop potential business.
· Maintains regular contact with cluster sales and marketing team members to keep abreast with any IHG initiatives.
· Encourages high service standards in the hotel through training and leading by example.
· Ensures all colleagues are aligned with the Make Every Connection Count brand service behavior.
· Interfaces with operations on a timely basis in regards to future and existing needs for customers.
Guest Experience:
· Follows Holiday Inn Express behaviors when working with internal and external customers.
· Services existing business through management of account base.
· Maintains an accurate and up to date database of clients and contacts.
· Responds to guest’s feedback in a timely and takes corrective action to resolve the concerns and partners other departments to ensure similar concerns do not happen again.
· Supports loyalty contribution through a proactive approach toward enrolment and ensures accuracy and transparency crediting IHG Business Rewards points.
· Develops and maintains contact with business generators, meeting and convention planners, visitors/convention bureau, travel agents, tour operators, airlines, corporate accounts, government departments and other producers closely aligned to hotel business.
· Builds profile within local market place through attendance at appropriate events.
· Entertains clients with a view to maximizing business opportunities.
· Supports and joins (where appropriate) sales and marketing team members in familiarization tours, site inspections and sales visits.
· Assists with the preparation of new products and services.
· Assists in the evaluation of sales and marketing activities.
· Analyses sales mix and likely impact on hotel goals.
· Maintains a neat and organized filing system (manual and electronic).
Responsible Business:
- Ensures a safe and secure environment for guests, team members and hotel assets in compliance with hotel’s or owner’s policies and procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Develops and carries out action plans to be environmentally conscious by taking steps to reduce the hotel’s carbon footprint.
- Acting responsibly when working with hotel budget and expenses, seeking prior approval where required.
Perform other duties as assigned by Director of Sales or as required.
