L1 Support Engineer

Work Location: Central, Singapore

Job Type: 2 Years Contract, subject to renewal

About the Role:

We are seeking a proactive and skilled L1 Support Engineer to join our IT team in providing top-notch technical support to end-users in the financial services sector. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in Azure and Microsoft technologies, a basic understanding of networking equipment such as ARUBA Access Points and Fortinet Firewalls, and the ability to resolve end-user IT issues efficiently.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Serve as the first point of contact for all IT-related issues, including hardware, software, and connectivity problems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues raised by end-users (EU) in a timely and effective manner.
• Document and escalate complex technical issues to higher support tiers when necessary.
• Support and maintain Microsoft 365 applications and related services.
• Assist with basic Azure cloud platform administration, including user management and resource monitoring.
• Provide basic support for ARUBA Access Points and Fortinet Firewalls, including monitoring, configuration, and troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with senior network engineers to address advanced network issues.
• Conduct routine checks on IT systems to ensure reliability and performance.
• Assist in deploying patches, updates, and configurations as required.
• Work closely with other IT team members to maintain a high level of IT service delivery.
• Ensure clear and professional communication with end-users to understand and address their concerns.
• Perform other related tasks as when required.

Job Requirements:

• 1-2 years of experience in an IT support or similar role, preferably within the financial services sector or SME environment.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft technologies, including Microsoft 365 and Windows OS.
• Basic understanding of Azure cloud platform administration.
• Familiarity with ARUBA Access Points and Fortinet Firewall configurations.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with end-users.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a high-pressure environment.

Key responsibilities of this role entail:

• Operational Leadership: Take full responsibility for the efficient and effective management of all operational activities related to Agri-commodity trade support, including but not limited to shipping document preparation, Letters of Credit, and compliance with contractual requirements.
• Team Management & Development: Lead and mentor a team of operations professionals, providing guidance on operational best practices and fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment. Ensure that the team is well-equipped to handle day-to-day challenges and manage large-scale contracts effectively.
• Strategic Oversight: Oversee the end-to-end process of bulk vessel shipments and other logistical requirements, ensuring that all shipments are executed in line with agreed timelines, contractual obligations, and regulatory standards.
• Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with senior stakeholders, including Traders, Origination Desks, Shipping Desk, to ensure alignment on trade activities and optimize operational workflows across departments.
• High-Risk, Large-Value Contracts: Manage and execute high-risk, high-value contracts, ensuring all documentation, compliance, and operational processes are meticulously handled to minimize risk and ensure successful completion.
• Process Optimization & Continuous Improvement: Drive process improvements across the operations function, leveraging technology and best practices to increase operational efficiency, minimize errors, and deliver timely and cost-effective solutions to the business.
• Ensure all operational activities are compliant with industry standards, including international trade regulations, Letters of Credit (ICC rules), GAFTA, FOSFA, and Incoterms. Act as a key advisor to senior management regarding operational risks and mitigation strategies.

Required Experience/Background

• Educational Background: A minimum of GCE ‘A’ Level or Diploma in International Trade, Import & Export, or related fields. A bachelor’s degree in International Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline is preferred.
• Professional Experience: At least 6+ years of progressive experience in an Agri-Business/Trading Company, with proven expertise in managing operations for soft commodity trading, bulk shipments, and trade support functions. Experience in a managerial role is essential.
• Leadership & People Management: Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams, effectively managing both people and operational resources.
• Industry Knowledge: In-depth understanding of commodity trading, including familiarity with GAFTA, FOSFA, and ICC rules for Letters of Credit. Knowledge of Incoterms and international trade practices is crucial.
• Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), with advanced spreadsheet and data analysis skills. Experience with trade management software or ERP systems is a plus.
• Communication & Stakeholder Engagement: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders. Ability to communicate complex issues clearly and effectively at all levels.

L1 Support Engineer - Contract 1 year (FIRM) +1 year (OPTIONAL)

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

a) Incident Logging and Ticket Handling: Log and process incidents, issues, and service requests submitted by users through phone or email in an incident management tool, resolving them in a timely and effective manner according to internal SLA. Maintain accurate records of issues and resolutions to help improve future support processes.

b) Basic Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve common IT issues such as password resets,

software installations, network connectivity and end-user computing (EUC) problems.

c) Escalation: Escalate complex issues to higher-level support teams (L2, management and/or vendor(s)) when necessary.

d) Customer Service: Ensure a positive user experience for staff and guests by maintaining a professional and helpful demeanor.

e) User Account Management: Create, modify, and delete user accounts across various systems, ensuring proper access rights and procedures are followed. This includes setting permissions, resetting passwords, and ensuring compliance with client policies. Provide new staff with their account(s) on their first day, and ensure that all resigned staff have their accounts deleted / submitted for deletion (eg. to AIC) on their last day when they return their laptops.

f) IT Inventory Management: Oversee and maintain an accurate inventory of IT assets, including hardware and software. This involves tracking the location, quantity, and status of assets, as well as monitoring software subscriptions and licenses to ensure compliance and avoid unnecessary costs and/or lapses. Ensuring sufficient assets are available for replacement, recommend tech refresh for equipment.

g) Device Management: Onboarding/Offboarding and assignment of User Devices (eg. mobile phones, tablets, laptops, etc.) on client’s MDM and other platforms for device management. Conduct regular checks and preventive maintenance on VMs, mobile phones and laptops to ensure serviceability; coordinate with vendors to facilitate/effect

repairs on devices as necessary.

h) Onboarding and Offboarding: Prepare/process IT assets such as laptops, desktops, and peripherals as they are acquired/procured; and conduct early setup of assets for new staff members before they are onboarded, with all necessary software and access

permissions configured. Safekeep and manage the return of IT assets from staff members who are offboarded, ensuring data is securely wiped and assets are ready for reallocation.

i) IT Asset Issuance: Manage the issuance and tracking of IT assets such as laptops, desktops, peripherals, licenses, and system accounts/access. Ensure proper documentation and inventory management to maintain accurate records of asset allocation and returns.

QUALIFICATION & SKILLS

• Higher NITEC in Electrical, Electronics, IT, Diploma, or equivalent.
• Relevant experience in IT system support and hardware maintenance.
• Minimum of 5+ years of L1 technical support experience in a large corporate infrastructure.
• Support experience in Active Directory, Entra, Intune; and use Fresh Service for ITSM and inventory, Windows servers, Hyper-V, Azure.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Self-starter, self-motivated, and critical thinker who embraces challenges.
• Ability to work responsibly, independently, and in a team.
