Our Aluminium team has an exciting role they are currently recruiting for. They are seeking a talented, and highly motivated Principal Analyst to work from our Singapore office to build our understanding of the Southeast Asian market and develop and support our growing relationships in the region. The Principal Analyst will also lead and contribute to our market reports and provide insightful analysis and price discovery across the aluminium primary and recycled metal products. Knowledge of other parts of the aluminium value chain would be a benefit for this role also.
The successful candidate will be able to build relationships across the industry, with the company’s commercial teams and build cross commodity synergies for the region. The successful individual will need to be fluent in English, with strong written and verbal skills, with excellent communication skills to build relationships. Having an analytical mind-set with the ability to get to grips quickly with the intricacies and complexities of the data that drive our business and strategy, will be key to the success of this role. The Principal Analyst will need to be comfortable and confident when speaking and presenting to market participants, and demonstrate diligence in workflow processes for price discovery, and capable of creating high quality, insightful industry analysis.
Reporting into the Head of the Aluminium Primary and Recycled teams within the Aluminium Group, this role demands a high level of commercial acumen with the ability to forge a strong network of contacts and understand and deliver client value. The successful candidate must be able to work effectively and collaboratively in an international team of market analysts and deliver to tight deadlines. This is a great opportunity for a Principal Analyst with experience to deliver exceptional external client engagement and will provide the opportunity to become an integral part of a dynamic, supportive, and truly international team.
Candidates should be degree educated (Undergraduate and Masters) – The undergraduate degree (first or 2:1), should be from a top British university, or equivalent level qualification from a leading university outside of the UK. Qualifications will ideally be in Economics or another numerate discipline. The role will also require a level of international travel, so candidates need to be comfortable with this. As a global Company we work across multiple time zones, so a degree of flexibility will be needed.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
Client engagement and Product development
- Build contacts across the region to provide commercial opportunities and market insights
- Establish an informed and independent view of market trends and industry developments across the aluminium value chain
- Engage with the market to develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of aluminium markets
- Help CRU's price discovery process by seeking to obtain prices of key aluminium products
Communication
- Create and communicate data driven analysis of market developments and issues that are compelling, logical, and cohesive to senior industry executives
- Communicate with sales to develop plans for commercial growth in the region
Minimum Required Qualifications
- A top degree (first or 2:1) from a top British university or equivalent level qualification from a leading university outside of the UK
- Further degree (Masters’ degree would be beneficial)
Knowledge & Experience
- Several years’ experience of the aluminium industry
- Strong background in business and/or economics
- Strong quantitative background and a creative thinker based on a robust approach to data/modelling
- Experience of managing or leading analysis within an organisation
- Exposure working across multi-locations with different cultures would be beneficial
