The Centre for Quantum Technologies (CQT), National University of Singapore is looking for researchers and engineers to develop next generation quantum computers based on trapped ions. There are multiple positions available at different levels with a diverse set of expertise. This program is funded under the National Quantum Processor Initiative, a flagship program under the National Quantum Office Singapore. The aim of the program is to develop a full stack quantum processor based on Yb-Ba ions. One postdoc position is available at the Surface and Interface Lab in Prof. CHEN WEI’s group, National University of Singapore. This project aims to advance the field of photon-modulated organic electrochemical transistors (OECTs), with a particular focus on photon-modulated electrochemical doping systems for flexible OECTs. This research is critical for advancing OECT-based circuits in bioelectronics, wearable electronics, and artificial neuromorphic electronics (e.g., optoelectronic synapses). A postdoctoral researcher is sought to contribute to this cutting-edge research, which lies at the intersection of organic semiconductors, materials science, and electrochemistry. The successful candidate will engage in the synthesis of channel-layer materials, the investigation of photoresponsive mechanisms and interfacial electrochemical processes, as well as the development of flexible organic optoelectronic synapses for applications in physiological signal monitoring and related fields.

Qualifications / Discipline:

The successful candidate will work with Associate Professor John S. Ascher on environmental modeling of mosquito vectors and stinging wasps and bees and other insects of importance for public and environmental health under the CNRS@CREATE, SPACE project.

The main responsibilities of the position include:

Working with the appointment PI to validate as fit for use an existing specimen and community science dataset of insects of importance for public and environmental health, especially mosquitoes and stinging wasps. The appointee will then conduct species distribution modeling based on an existing pipeline already established for bee research and documented in a publication. The candidate will start with highest priority mosquito species such as Aedes albopictus and other well known species of public health importance will move on to other species as time allows.

This project aims to investigate the performance of cementitious materials and 3D printed concrete against ballistic and blast loadings. The researcher will be required to cast and fabricate the various cementitious materials and 3D printed concrete, prepare the logistics and perform the relevant ballistic and blast tests. He/she will also be required to set up the numerical models in commercial FE software (e.g. LS Dyna), validated against experimental data, to understand the mechanisms in resisting the high impact loadings for the various cementitious materials.

The Planetary Health Initiative is SDGHI’s newest strategic initiative. Planetary health pertains to the integrated state of health of both people and the planet. It recognizes that people’s health is now greatly shaped by human-driven global environmental change, such as climate change, environmental pollution, rapid urbanisation, biodiversity loss, among others. Addressing these interlocking challenges requires concerted actions within and beyond the health sector, spanning diverse disciplines and nations.

During the Initiative’s inaugural phase, the Institute will focus on launching new educational and capacity-building activities, conducting landscape analysis of the current state of play especially at the regional level, exploring research collaborations with other planetary health-oriented groups within Singapore and beyond, and implementing policy influencing and advocacy activities – all geared towards positioning the Institute as an emerging thought leader in planetary health in Asia and beyond.

The Research Fellow will be part of the Initiative’s inaugural team and will significantly contribute to the early development of the Institute’s planetary health portfolio. The selected candidate will perform a variety of research activities which include planning, organising, and conducting research studies, including but not limited to the following:

• Independently carry out the design and execution of research projects.
• Write and review research papers, present research outcomes, conceptualise new ideas and develop plans for independent research.
• Provide support for external grant/protocol development, study design, ethics review application, and other research management activities.
• Contribute to other activities of the Planetary Health Initiative related to education, capacity building, innovation, policy advocacy, etc.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to undergraduate/medical students and research assistants.
• Perform duties related to the activities of the Planetary Health Initiative (such as advocacy, policy engagement, etc.).

Job Requirements:

• PhD in relevant fields such as public health, health systems, sustainable development, social sciences, among others, AND/OR post-graduate medical degree.
• Minimum with at least 2 years’ of relevant research experience and training. MD/MBBS graduates with a relevant Master’s degree may also be considered.
• Possess advanced knowledge of specific planetary health topics/issues of interest, as well as wide familiarity about the evolving planetary health field, including principles, frameworks, issues, emerging discourse, and policy developments
• Proficiency in research design and execution, preferably in conducting mixed-methods research(both quantitative and qualitative)
• Demonstrated capability of research independence growing progressively.

The SingHealth Duke-NUS Global Health Institute (“SDGHI”) is a platform for global health activities across the SingHealth Duke-NUS Academic Medical Centre (“AMC”). The Institute aims to address current and emerging health challenges across Asia. Working in collaboration with partners, the Institute seeks to tackle prevalent health challenges, strengthen health systems and better insulate countries from pandemics and disease threats.

The Global Health Systems Research Unit is a new and dynamic unit focused on elucidating health system challenges and developing solutions. It collaborates with partners in Singapore and across Asia, generating evidence that drives intervention programmes across the AMC. The unit explores innovative ways to work with data, including testing AI tools for efficient management, analysis, synthesis, and visualisation of research data.

The Research Associate will play a dual role, supporting both SDGHI’s Global Health Systems and the SingHealth Centre for Person-Centred Care (CPCC). The ideal candidate will report to the SDGHI Clinical Core and work closely with the team at CPCC to contribute to projects that improve health equity and access in Singapore and across Asia.

Key Responsibilities

• Contribute to a wide range of health systems and services research programmes, including health systems analysis, policy analysis, and evaluation of person-centric initiatives.
