About the Team

The Seed Foundation Machine Learning (ML) Systems team provides end-to-end (E2E) machine learning experience and machine learning resources for the company. The team builds heterogeneous ML training and inference systems based on GPU and AI chips and advances the state-of-the-art of ML systems technology to accelerate models such as stable diffusion and LLM.

The team is also responsible for research and development of hardware acceleration technologies for AI and cloud computing, via technologies such as distributed systems, compilers, HPC, and RDMA networking. The team is reinventing the ML infra for large scale language models. We have published papers at top tier conferences such as SIGCOMM, NSDI, EuroSys, OSDI, SOSP, MLSys, NeurIPS, etc.

Responsibilities:

- Optimizing large scale parallel training for state of the art deep learning algorithms such as large language models, multi-modality models, diffusion, reinforcement learning, etc

- Research and develop our machine learning systems, including accelerated computing architecture, management and monitoring

- Deploy the machine learning systems, distributed machine learning training and inference

- Manage cross-layer optimization of system and AI algorithms and hardware for machine learning (GPU, ASIC)

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification:

- Bachelor or above degree in distributed, parallel computing principles and know the recent advances in computing, storage, networking, and hardware technologies;

The Seed Foundation Machine Learning (ML) Systems team provides end-to-end (E2E) machine learning experience and machine learning resources for the company. The team builds heterogeneous ML training and inference systems based on GPU and AI chips and advances the state-of-the-art of ML systems technology to accelerate models such as stable diffusion and LLM.

The team is also responsible for research and development of hardware acceleration technologies for AI and cloud computing, via technologies such as distributed systems, compilers, HPC, and RDMA networking. The National University of Singapore invites applications for a Research Fellow position in the characterization of adaptive immunity against emerging highly pathogenic viruses, within the Infectious Diseases Translational Research Programme (ID TRP) at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. The ID TRP is a 17-member programme comprising both basic scientists and clinician-scientists, enabling seamless translation of research. The programme has strong expertise in bacterial antibiotic resistance, multidrug resistance, and emerging viruses, covering areas such as epidemiology, molecular mechanisms, animal models, and therapeutic and prophylactic interventions. Other active areas of research include phage biology, pneumococcal infections, and microbiome studies. Appointments will initially be made on a yearly contract basis, with the possibility of extension.

Purpose of the post

We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a strong passion for emerging viral diseases, who is eager to contribute to advancing our understanding of infectious disease threats in this region and to help strengthen preparations for future pandemics. As a Research Fellow (RF), you will play a pivotal role in the project, working closely with the Principal Investigator and the broader study team to ensure the project is completed on time and with high impact.

The primary responsibility of the RF will be to lead the project independently, while also collaborating closely with our regional study partners. You will be expected to design, execute, and oversee experiments, particularly in animal models, to investigate immune responses to emerging viral pathogens. • Develop and implement strategic initiatives to enhance GeDaC's impact within the Cancer Science Institute and across Singapore’s research community.
• Identify and address operational bottlenecks and areas for improvement, optimizing workflow to increase productivity and client satisfaction.

Marketing and Business Development:

• Create and execute a comprehensive marketing plan to promote GeDaC’s genomics and data analytics services, targeting both academic and industry partners.
• Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including principal investigators, research labs, healthcare professionals, and corporate partners.
• Conduct market research to stay abreast of advancements and emerging trends in genomics and bioinformatics, using insights to inform service offerings and identify new revenue opportunities.
• Represent GeDaC at conferences, workshops, and networking events, showcasing the facility’s capabilities and building a strong client network.

Financial Management and Revenue Growth:

• Develop and manage the facility’s budget, monitoring revenue and expenditure to ensure financial sustainability.
• Lead contract negotiations with clients and vendors, setting pricing structures that reflect market value and service costs.
• Track service utilization and generate periodic performance reports, using data to drive business strategies and make informed decisions about resource allocation.
• Oversee billing, invoicing, and collection processes, ensuring timely and accurate payments.

Product Development and Client Relations:

• Collaborate with scientific and technical teams to develop new services and products that meet the evolving needs of the genomics and data analytics research community.
• Engage with clients to understand their research objectives, providing tailored solutions and ensuring high levels of satisfaction.
• Act as the primary point of contact for client inquiries, addressing concerns promptly and fostering long-term partnerships.

Qualifications

• At least Master's Degree in Genomics, Bioinformatics, Data Science, or a related field, with a strong foundation in cancer genomics or biomedical research.
• Proven experience in business development, marketing, or management roles within a scientific or technical services environment, preferably in core facilities or research institutes.
• Demonstrated ability to create and execute business strategies that drive growth and financial sustainability.
• Strong leadership skills with a proactive and collaborative management style.
• Deep understanding of genomics, bioinformatics, and data analytics, with the ability to translate scientific capabilities into client-focused solutions.
