We are seeking at least one Postdoctoral Associate to join the "Mens, Manus and Machina—How AI Empowers People, Institutions and Cities in Singapore (M3S)" interdisciplinary group.

The M3S project is driven by the goal of investigating the nature of work, redefining our relationship with technology, and exploring how institutions can adapt to foster livability, sustainability, innovation, and social welfare.

Successful applicants will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects that aim to develop state-of-the-art AI to create future smart cities. The Postdoctoral Associate is in the program level for the five-year M3S program in SMART. The SMART team seeks to advance the frontier of AI research, apply it to society and cities, and demonstrate the concrete social impacts of the AI algorithms with broad public acceptance in Singapore.

Specifically, the SMART-Program team seeks to develop ethical, accountable, and transparent AI for broad public acceptance and adoption in Singapore. The SMART-Program team will collaborate closely with the seven projects across the M3S program. It absorbs core AI technology from the projects and then enhances AI ethics with algorithmic approaches. It will develop surveys to analyze the public acceptance regarding AI technology and designs methods to enhance public acceptance/adoption for AI. It will also help the implementation of the AI techniques across the M3S projects and works closely with the government agencies, industrial partners, and academic collaborators to demonstrate the use values of AI in Singapore.

The SMART-Program team is led by distinguished scholars, including Professor Jinhua Zhao and Professor Daniela Rus from MIT, and Professor Archan Misra from Singapore Management University.

Job Description

Job Requirements

Summary of Responsibilities

Responsible for leading and maintaining existing accounts and responding to ad-hoc research enquires from potential clients. Primary focus will be to help the Company innovate and deliver services in a unique way to stay ahead in the market.

Detailed Responsibilities:

· Account Management

o Manage existing accounts independently and provide guidance to junior team members. Demonstrate comfort in dealing with clients in understanding and delivering their needs.

o Accept incoming briefs from senior management or directly from existing clients and prepare research proposals, research design independently, provide guidance to junior team members.

o Review costing sheet put together by junior team members and propose selling price to senior team members. Ensure there is sufficient lead time given for senior management to review costings and actively participate in discussion.

o Plan and develop analysis plan independently, produce high quality research reports with actionable recommendations that value adds to clients' business, actively participate and contribute to strategy slides, provide guidance to team members.

o Able to present professionally and credibly in front of clients.

· Professional Competency

• Demonstrate in-depth knowledge and application of different types of research methodologies (both quantitative and qualitative).
• Design research materials and provide guidance to junior team members, check materials prepared by junior team members.
• Prepare data-related specifications including edit specs, tables specs, data specs and code frames. Lead discussion with Operations and Data Analytics team to brief them on specifications and analysis plan. Prepare briefing documents (including timeline) including internal teams or external vendors and conduct briefing or attend briefing sessions together with junior team members to ensure clients' objectives are clearly communicated. Perform checks on all documents prepared by junior team members.
• Work with team members to solve project related issues, provide guidance on problem solving skills in collaboration with Operations/Data Analytics or external vendor.

o Produce insightful data visualizations/charts without error, perform quality checks on work performed by junior team members and provide guidance to junior team members

o Liaise with internal and external clients as well as vendors interaction at various project stages.

· People Management

o Play a role of mentor in helping junior team members by coaching them on various facets of the research, individual workload, and balance of project/ non-project work including goal setting, monitoring of junior team members' performance and growth.

The Senior Research Officer works to the High Commission’s political and economic section. The position will play a key role in monitoring and analysing Singapore’s domestic political and/or economic developments, including issues in the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Working under limited supervision, the Senior Policy and Research Officer will undertake significant research projects and be expected to engage with a wide range of sources. The Role

In this position, you will be working on backend components to support existing technology-based platforms that collect, analyse and act on data related to in-flight employee fatigue. A full-time researcher is being sought to join the research team. The Research Associate will work on forecasting-related projects, which may include the use of stylized models to analyze AI-human interactions in forecasting or the application of factor models and robust optimization for forecast aggregation.

Qualifications

The Centre of Excellence in Maritime Safety (CEMS) is a national R&D centre jointly established by the Singapore Polytechnic and the Singapore Maritime Institute. It collaborates with the maritime industry and research community to develop innovative digital solutions and training systems to enhance maritime safety, through state-of-the-art research facilities at CEMS, such as South-east Asia's first navigation research simulator.

The appointee will be part of the CEMS AI team in developing machine learning models, analytics capabilities in big data infrastructure, and conducting data science studies for SP. The resulted work will be used to enhance simulator training and assessment, innovate in training pedagogy and develop digital technologies for the maritime industry.

Responsibilities:

• Design research methodologies to develop AI algorithms and models. This includes designing and conducting experiments, as well as the implementation of the developed tools, systems and applications
• Build, organize, and maintain effective and efficient data infrastructure

The Translational Neuroscience Group led by Professor Vincenzo De Paola (https://www.duke-nus.edu.sg/nbd/the-team/faculty-members/details/Detail/de-paola-vincenzo) at Duke-NUS is looking for Research Assistant / Research Assistant (Senior).

The team aims to illuminate the mechanisms of human cortical circuit wiring and dysfunction. The ultimate aim is to use this knowledge to help design new treatment strategies for both neurodegenerative (e.g. dementia) and neuropsychiatric conditions (e.g. autism), and to enhance the brain regenerative potential.

The group uses a multidisciplinary approach at the interface between neuroscience (live imaging, neuroanatomy, electrophysiology, optogenetics, organotypic cultures), genetics (snRNAseq), human stem cell and tissue biology (human iPSC-derived neurons transplanted in the mouse brain) and high-resolution optical imaging (structural and functional multiphoton microscopy).

The selected candidate will perform a variety of research activities under the supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI), including but not limited to the following: -

• Provide laboratory operational assistance to the PI, i.e., day-to-day coordination and running of the laboratory including supervisory responsibilities for laboratory staff and students.
• Assist with general upkeep of laboratory needs, maintain safety protocols, provide technical support and establish work procedures to ongoing research projects.
• Perform tasks and support all aspects of the research project (microscopy, human cell cultures, molecular biology, brain tissue processing, etc.).
• Conduct accurate monitoring, documenting and reporting of experimental results and/or research findings.
• Assist researchers in programming, data analysis and literature review in various research projects.
• Perform any other duties that commensurate with the position.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in cell and molecular biology or other related disciplines with at least 2 years of research laboratory experience.

Our team is seeking highly talented and motivated candidates to join us in improving rainfall nowcasting in Singapore. The Signature Research Programme in Emerging Infectious Diseases (EID) aims to pioneer the development and discovery of new and more effective methods for the treatment, prevention and control of new and emerging pathogens. The key outcome of the research will be the early identification of new pathogens, out of which new diagnostic tests, treatments and control strategies will be developed.

The laboratory of Immunotherapy in HBV Infection within EID is focused on the study of immune response of Hepatitis B and the liver microenvironment. The laboratory is also at the forefront in developing T-cell receptor (TCR) cell therapy against hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Recently, the laboratory is actively involved in studying the immune responses in SARS-CoV1, SARS-CoV2 and other emerging viral diseases.

We are looking for a talented Research Fellow to study the antigen-specific cellular immune response to emerging viral diseases using classical and newly developed cellular assays. The selected candidate will perform a variety of research activities, which include planning, organising and conducting research studies within the overall scope of research projects under the supervision of the Principal Investigator or his/her designate, including but not limited to the following:

• Independently carry out the design and execution of experimental research required by the research component of the project.
• Develop and test novel T cell assays against various viral pathogens of interest.
