Job Description

The Duke-NUS Laboratory for Translational and Molecular Imaging (LTMI), Duke-NUS Medical School, is recruiting a Research Fellow/Senior Research Fellow to lead state-of-the-art small animal imaging studies in Viral Infectious Disease. LTMI aims to develop local infrastructure and deep capabilities in the development of molecular imaging technologies for guiding the advancement and translation of new imaging biomarkers to guide novel therapeutics in viral infectious disease.

The successful candidate will lead pre-clinical imaging efforts to validate novel imaging probes that target potential biomarkers of viral infection and host response. He/She will be responsible for the strategic planning, execution and communication of research. Candidates with strong records of scientific accomplishment in radiopharmaceutical sciences, immunology or related disciplines are encouraged to apply.

Lead mouse model development and characterisation of viral disease.

• Perform in vivo characterisation of imaging probe specificity and sensitivity with PET/CT, SPECT/CT and/or optical imaging in combination with different treatment regimes.

The Cardiovascular and Metabolic Disorders (CVMD) Programme houses state-of-the-art technologies for profiling mitochondrial function and metabolic adaptations in human patients and other model organisms, and undertakes translational and clinical research in cardiovascular and metabolic disorders.

Prof Derek Hausenloy’s laboratory aims to discover new treatments for protecting the heart from acute ischaemia/reperfusion injury and for preventing heart failure. We use a translational approach to research comprising cell models, rodent models (atherosclerosis, acute myocardial infarction and heart failure), nanoparticles for delivery of therapeutics to the ischaemic heart, and clinical studies.

As the Research Engineer (Equipment/Operations), you are directly involved in tool installation activities for semiconductor process tools. You would need to work proactively to coordinate with the contractor on the ground for the execution and take corrective and preventive actions of lessons learned, due diligently to prevent reoccurrence. You are responsible for performing utilities turn-on after installation is completed. You must perform the activities per ASTAR site procedure and safety policies to ensure all tool-install-related activities are completed, meeting safety, quality, schedule and budget requirements. We are seeking one or more highly motivated and creative postdoctoral researchers to join our dynamic team at the Synthetic Biology for Clinical and Technological Innovation (SynCTI), Synthetic Biology Translational Research Programme, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore (NUS) and the National Centre for Engineering Biology (NCEB).

• New product development (NPD):

- Source for contract manufacturers and liaise with engineers/ formulators to develop new product; be the main contact point with these suppliers for NPD/ formulation discussions.

- Review formulas and ingredient/ design statements for new product that is compliant with regulations.

- Conduct or work with contract manufacturer for efficacy assessment, literature review, product trial and testing.

- Work with contract manufacturers for safety assessment and stability study of products.

- Define critical attributes of final products, work with Quality team to finalise product master specifications and list of required lab tests.

- Work with Regulatory Affairs to finalise label text of products and with designer for packaging design.

- Technical resource for Regulatory Affairs, including providing technical document such as formula, raw material COA, efficacy, stability and safety information.

- Research market prices, create accurate product costing data and propose product pricing.

- Present new product for management’s review.

• New product introduction:

- Technical resource for Marketing, including providing technical brief or info sheet of product.

- Conduct product training as part of professional education to regional trainer/ marketing team and key leaders of salesforce.

• Post-launch product management:

- Reassess industry movement and re-evaluate competitor actions.

- Analyse product performance, profit and loss, and identify actions required.

- Manage incremental improvement for existing products.

- Liaise with contract manufacturers for necessary formula-related matters.

- React to necessary corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) raised by Quality.

• Contribute for and implement standard procedures (in compliance with industrial standards and QMS requirements) for any product development and management activities or as assigned.
• Perform other duties and projects as necessary to meet company goals.

Requirements:

• Degree in Nutrition, Pharmaceutical Science or relevant.

• Preferably with some experience in product development/ management in the dietary supplement and health food industry.

• Product/ project management experience; planning & time management experience.

The Signature Research Programme in Emerging Infectious Diseases (EID) aims to pioneer the development and discovery of new and more effective methods for the treatment, prevention and control of new and emerging pathogens. The key outcome of the research will be the early identification of new pathogens, out of which new diagnostic tests, treatments and control strategies will be developed.

This position is for a full-time Research Assistant with a strong background in Microbiology/Immunology to work in a dynamic research team focused on bat biology. The candidate is expected to play a critical role in generating and fostering a cutting-edge, interdisciplinary research environment by performing a variety of research under the supervision of the Principal Investigator or his/her designate. The main duties and responsibilities will include but not limited to the following: -

• Perform tasks and support all aspects of the research project.
• Conduct accurate monitoring, documenting and reporting of experimental results and/or research findings.
• Provide support experience for MRNA vaccine studies.
• Assist in the maintaining of cell cultures
• Assist with general upkeep of laboratory needs, maintain safety protocols and laboratory housekeeping.
• Provide guidance and training to students.
• Perform other related duties incidental to the work described therein.

Job Requirements

• PhD Degree in Life Sciences with Microbiology/Immunology background.
• Demonstrated basic knowledge, skills and technical expertise in supporting various biological research activities.
• Equipped with basic routine laboratory skills, including biological safety.
